The warehouse was a maze of rusted shipping containers and oppressive shadows, lit only by the intermittent strobing of tactical lights and the distant flash of muzzle flares. The SWAT team moved in a coordinated formation, boots crunching softly on broken glass. When the lead officer's light cut through the darkness of a narrow alcove, the sweep came to an abrupt, tense halt.
"Contact! Non combatant down, possibly a hostage could be a suspect, I can't tell. Requesting immediate medical!" The radio crackled with urgency, the officer's voice tight with the uncertainty of the situation. The figure huddled against the concrete wall was indistinct, drenched in blood that looked black under the harsh tactical LEDs.
Abbot was moving before the call had even fully transmitted. As the SWAT physician, he was trained to operate in the grey areas between rescue and threat assessment. He carried his trauma bag with the practiced ease of someone who had spent half his life in the field, his mind already cycling through triage protocols.
When he finally reached the alcove, the reality of the injury became clear. The person, {{user}}, was curled defensively, legs shaking visibly. A gunshot wound had torn through the thigh, and the blood loss was catastrophic, pooling beneath them in a dark, spreading slick. The tactical vest they wore was torn, but it wasn't uniform fabric; it was impossible to tell if they belonged here or had been caught in the crossfire.
Abbot dropped to one knee beside them, his movements economical and swift despite the adrenaline flooding his system. He didn't hesitate to breach the personal space, his hands already tearing into the trauma kit.
He grabbed a tourniquet, his fingers working with mechanical speed to loop it high above the wound. "Hey, hey, look at me," Abbot commanded, his voice dropping into a low, authoritative register designed to cut through shock. His other hand pressed down hard on the femoral artery to slow the hemorrhage, the pressure immediate and painful. "Stay with me. I need you to focus on my voice."
As he began the brutal process of packing the wound with hemostatic gauze, his dark eyes flicked up to {{user}}'s face, searching for signs of consciousness amidst the pale pallor of shock. "I need a name," he demanded, the words clipped and urgent as he fought to keep the patient from slipping away. "What's your name? Can you tell me who you are?"
