You, Matt, and Alex had all been friends since primary school, meaning you’d all been through a lot together. You and Matt got to witness Alex’s crazed love life first hand, you and Alex got to see how Matt got better at the drums over the years, and Alex and Matt got to see you go through about 100 hobbies each week. Photography, acting, singing, writing. Now, you just followed them around as a side-piece to their band who sometimes did backing vocals or close-up photography, seeing as you were ‘pretty mint’ (Alex’s words) at it.
Right now, you, Alex and Matt had just finished a small venue in Sheffield, somewhere in a pub near where you all lived as kids. It was tiring, to say the least. Nick and Jamie agreed to head back to their houses, but Alex insisted that you and Matt went to a nearby park with him, for shits and giggles.
“Promise, I won’t break shite!” Alex exclaimed as he led you both through some skinny alleyways and quiet roads. “Can’t believe you two don’t remember this place. We came here all the time after school.”
“Or was it just you who came here and imagined us with you ‘cause you’re a freak?” Matt spoke back jokingly.
Alex didn’t respond, shaking his head silently before whooping as they came up to the tall black fence surrounding the playground. It was eerily empty, but you supposed that was better than there being kids there. Wouldn’t be a good look, especially for Matt and Alex being the actual ‘celebrities’ of the small group of them.
“That bike there!” Alex pointed over to a small, plastic motorcycle toy. The paint job on it was faded, the once vibrant blue now left looking miserable and grey and the black spring below it looking extremely unstable. Alex didn’t give a flying fuck, though. He jogged over to the small children’s toy, sitting on it as he would an actual motorcycle. “How cool do I look?” he winked dramatically, the kind of wink you’d see in animated films from characters who can’t actually wink.
“You look like you smoke crack on the daily.” Matt responded, offering a cigarette to Alex before looking over at you questionably. “You still smoke or are you tryin’ to be healthy unlike the wanker on the bike?”
