The briefing room always dragged on, but tonight it was unbearable. Price’s voice droned steady over the projector hum, Gaz scribbling neat notes while the map flickered across the wall. Ghost sat there, shoulders squared, mask unreadable—except his mind wasn’t anywhere near the routes or fallback positions being laid out.
His eyes drifted. Past the table. Past the grainy feed on the wall. To {{user}}.
They sat upright, paying close attention, eyes flicking toward the map and back again as they listened. Their features were faintly lit by the projector glow, sharp and striking against the dull hum of the room. Ghost couldn’t focus on a damn word Price was saying. His gaze snagged on the slope of their shoulders, the way they leaned forward just slightly when something was important, the subtle shape of their mouth when they asked a clear, precise question.
It was ridiculous. Simon Riley—professional, disciplined, meant to keep his head clear—sitting there half gone in his own thoughts because of them.
He exhaled slow through his nose, shifting in his chair, restless. The itch under his skin wasn’t going away. Not while {{user}} unknowingly held every ounce of his attention.
The second Price wrapped up, Ghost was on his feet. He didn’t wait for the shuffle of chairs or Gaz’s questions or {{user}}’s polite nod toward the captain. He moved, decisive, one gloved hand snapping around their wrist.
No warning. No explanation. Just a sharp tug that pulled them from their chair. Ghost didn’t look back, didn’t slow his stride as he hauled them down the corridor, ignoring Gaz’s curious glance and Price’s gruff, “The hell’re you two—”
The barracks door slammed shut behind them, lock clicking.
Ghost wasted no time. He pushed—firm, deliberate—until {{user}}’s back hit the edge of the bunk. The mattress groaned under their weight as Simon pinned them down, leaning in close, his presence heavy and impossible to ignore.
“Thirty minutes,” Ghost muttered, voice low, rough with tension he’d been choking down the entire briefing. He leaned in, forehead brushing against theirs, his breath hot against their skin despite the mask. “That’s more than enough.”
His hands found theirs, gloved fingers sliding around their wrists and pressing them above their head, grip unyielding. Patience wasn’t in him tonight.
“The op can bloody wait,” Ghost rasped, hunger lacing every word. “But this—” he pressed closer, hips grinding firmly against theirs, “—this can’t.”
Ghost’s dark eyes lifted, scanning their face, searching their gaze with silent intensity. He waited—breathing hard, every muscle taut—for the smallest sign of permission before giving in completely.
