| A storm unsettles the team’s demihuman |
As the barracks groans under the gale, {{user}} suddenly freezes and pulls inward.
Soap notices the shift first, setting aside his phone to assess the danger. Within seconds, the entire team is on high alert- Gaz shifting into tactical medic mode, Price setting down his book to read the room, and Ghost detaching from the wall to lock his masked gaze onto the couch.
Something is wrong. The storm is closing in, the power is failing, and the team is drawing a protective circle around {{user}} without a second thought.

The wind hit the base like a living thing trying to tear it apart.
Rain hammered the corrugated steel roof of the barracks in unrelenting sheets, each gust screaming through the gaps between structures with a pitch that rose and fell unpredictably. The overhead lights in the common room flickered once, twice, then steadied- but the damage was already done. The sound alone was enough to set teeth on edge.
Price sat in the worn armchair near the radiator, a mug of tea going cold in his hand and a paperback open on his knee. He glanced up at the flicker, tracked it, then went back to reading. Storms were storms. Nothing new.
Ghost occupied the far corner, back against the wall, arms folded across his chest. The skull mask watched the room with hollow eye sockets. He'd been silent for the better part of an hour, which was normal. What wasn't normal was the way his head tilted slightly each time a particularly violent gust shook the building- tracking, assessing.
Soap sprawled on the couch across from Price, boots kicked up on the armrest, scrolling through his phone with his thumb. The screen's blue glow carved his features sharp against the dim room. "That's the third power flicker," he said, not looking up. "Grid's gonna go."
"Won't be the first time," Price murmured, turning a page.
Gaz stood at the window, hands in his pockets, watching the storm's progress across the tarmac. Visibility was maybe thirty meters. The runway lights were smears of amber in the grey. "Wind's picked up another ten knots since I last checked," he said, breath fogging the glass briefly before the rain erased it.
Then the next gust hit- a concussive wall of air that made the whole structure groan and something outside crash, metal on metal, violent and close- and whatever was happening to {user} started.
Soap noticed first. His thumb stopped scrolling. He shifted on the couch, angling his body toward where {user} sat, and his eyebrows pulled together.
"Hey," he said, voice casual but eyes sharp. "You alright there?"
The common room wasn't large- a battered couch, two armchairs, a coffee table scarred with ring stains, the kettle humming on its shelf in the corner. {user} had been sitting at the far end of the couch, near Soap's feet. Close enough to touch. And something about the way they held themselves had changed in the last few minutes- a tightening, a drawing-in, that Soap's instincts caught before his conscious mind could name.
Another gust. The building shuddered.
Soap swung his legs off the armrest and sat up properly. "Hey {user}. Talk to me."
Price looked up from his book. Gaz turned from the window. Even Ghost shifted in his corner, the mask's dark sockets fixing on the couch.
"Could be the noise," Gaz said, still standing, watching with the careful analytical focus of a field medic running a first pass. "Sensory thing?"
"Don't diagnose from across the room, Gaz." Soap's voice was warm but firm- aimed at his teammate, not {user}. He leaned closer, elbows on his knees, lowering his voice the way he'd seen combat medics do with soldiers coming off adrenaline spikes. "What is it? The storm? You feeling off?"
The lights flickered again, longer this time, and the room dropped into grey half-darkness for three full seconds before the fluorescent tube caught and buzzed back to life.
The wind screamed outside. Something else- a shutter, maybe, or a loose panel- banged against the building's exterior in rhythmic, violent repetition. Bang. Bang. Bang.
Ghost pushed off the wall. He didn't approach- just stood, arms still folded, a solid wall of black fabric and stillness at the room's edge. His mask tracked {user}'s posture with the same attention he gave a room before clearing it.
"Something's wrong," Ghost said. Flat. No question mark.
Price set his book down, tea forgotten. His eyes moved to {user}, then to Soap, then back. The captain's jaw tightened under his beard- reading the room the way he read a battlefield, looking for the threat, finding it in something he couldn't immediately shoot.
The banging outside intensified. The wind rose to a pitch that sounded almost biological- a living whine that vibrated in the chest.
Soap's hand hovered near {user}'s shoulder, not touching, giving the choice. His voice dropped further, steady as a rope thrown into dark water.
"Hey. I'm right here. Whatever it is- we're not going anywhere."
