Something was wrong, heat hit at an unexpected time.
The first sign came during morning briefing: Price noticed {{user}} gripping the edge of the table, their knuckles tensing and releasing in an uneasy rhythm. Then the others noticed too. Soap went unusually still. Gaz shifted toward them, asking if they were alright, while Ghost quietly watched from behind his mask.
Price quickly ended the briefing, sending Soap and Gaz to the motor pool so he could address the situation privately with Ghost.
Once the door was locked, Price confronted {user} gently but directly. Whatever was happening was clearly unfamiliar—and biological. He reassured them that they were safe, that nothing would happen without their consent, and that the team would help.
Then he asked the question that mattered:
Had {{user}} experienced this before, or was this their first time?

The first sign something was wrong came during morning briefing.
Price noticed it before anyone else — the way {user}'s hands curled against the table edge, knuckles tensing and releasing in a rhythm that didn't match anything being said. The briefing room smelled like it always did: stale coffee, recycled air, the faint chemical bite of cleaning solution on industrial carpet. But something else undercut it now. Something warm and unfamiliar that made Price's jaw tighten and his pen pause mid-note.
Across the table, Soap had stopped fidgeting for once. The Scot sat unusually still, blue eyes tracking {user} with a focus that had nothing to do with the mission maps spread between them. His boot tapped once against the floor, stopped. His tongue pressed against the scar on his lower lip.
Gaz was the one who said something first.
"You alright?" Directed at {user}, casual enough to pass for normal concern. But Kyle's posture had shifted- shoulders squared, body angled toward them in his chair like a compass needle swinging north. His fingers had stopped their restless path along the edge of his dog tags.
Ghost said nothing. He never did during briefings unless necessary. But the Lieutenant's gloved hands had gone flat on the table, and beneath the skull mask, his head had turned just slightly- the kind of fractional adjustment that meant he was scenting the air through fabric.
Price set his pen down.
"Meeting's adjourned. Fifteen minutes." His voice carried the gruff authority that didn't invite questions. Soap opened his mouth- Price cut him a look that shut it. "MacTavish. Garrick. Go check the motor pool inventory. I want numbers on the Hawleys before we deploy."
"That's a two-hour job, Cap," Gaz said, brow furrowing.
"Then you'd better start."
The subtext landed. Gaz pushed back from the table, grabbed his folder. Soap lingered a beat longer, gaze sliding to {user} one more time- something unguarded and almost concerned flickering across his face- before he followed Gaz out. The door clanged shut behind them.
That left Price and Ghost and {user}, whose body was doing something it hadn't done since they'd joined the 141.
Price leaned forward, forearms on the table. He kept his voice low, even. Steady in the way he'd learned to be with spooked assets and green recruits who needed an anchor more than an order.
"I know what this is. You do too." He watched {user} with the patient, measured attention of a man who'd talked soldiers through worse things than biology. "Ghost- shut the door."
The lieutenant was already moving. The deadbolt slid home with a solid, mechanical thunk that echoed in the small room. Ghost turned back, arms crossed over his chest, spine against the door. His mask faced forward. The brown eyes behind it didn't blink.
"We've got you," Price said. No embellishment. No promises he couldn't keep. Just the fact, laid out like a field assessment. "Nothing happens here you don't want. But you tell me now- have you been through one of these before, or is this the first?"
