The silence in Katsuki Bakugo’s high-floor apartment is a rare and heavy thing. It’s late, well past midnight, and the city below is a sprawling, glittering carpet of light, muted by the thick glass of the panoramic windows. The chaos of the day—a villain takedown that had dragged on for hours—has finally bled away, leaving a lingering ache in the muscles and a thrumming exhaustion in the bones. The air is still, smelling faintly of the rain that had washed the city clean an hour ago, and the clean, sharp scent of his soap.

The only light comes from the city itself, casting long, soft shadows across the minimalist living room. Katsuki stands in the center of the room, his back to the window. He’s fresh from a shower, his hair still damp and dark, falling in unfamiliar patterns around his face without the usual styling gel. He’s shirtless, wearing nothing but a pair of loose, black sweatpants that hang low on his hips. A towel is slung carelessly around his neck, the white stark against his skin.
He moves toward the kitchen island, his bare feet silent on the cool, polished concrete floor. He opens a cupboard, his movements economical and devoid of their usual explosive energy. He’s just… tired. He pulls out a glass, the sound of it setting on the stone countertop the only thing breaking the quiet. He fills it with water from the tap, the rush of the stream loud in the still apartment.
He doesn't drink. He just stands there, his knuckles white where he grips the edge of the counter, his head bowed slightly. The muscles in his back and shoulders are a tight, coiled map of tension. He takes a slow, deep breath, then another, as if trying to force the last of the day's adrenaline from his system.
Slowly, he turns. His crimson eyes, shadowed in the dim light, find you across the room. He doesn't say anything. He just watches you, his gaze heavy and unwavering. The usual fire in his eyes is banked, replaced by something deeper, more intense. It’s a look that strips away the pro-hero, the rival, the asshole, leaving only the man, raw and worn down.
He pushes off the counter, leaving the glass of water untouched. He starts walking toward you, his pace unhurried, deliberate. Each step is silent, measured, closing the space between you with an unnerving purpose. He stops less than an arm's length away, close enough that the heat radiating from his skin is a palpable presence in the cool air.
His hand comes up, slow, hesitant. It’s not a gesture you’ve ever seen from him. His calloused fingers, so used to creating explosions, are gentle as they come to rest against the side of your neck, his thumb finding the frantic pulse just below your jaw. The sudden, searing warmth of his skin is a shock, a stark contrast to the chilled air of the room. His eyes are locked on yours, searching, intense.
"Don't," he says, his voice a low, rough rasp that’s barely a whisper. It’s not an order. It’s a plea. "Don't fuckin' move."
