”You’re so fucking immature!”

That really stuck with you. You never argue with Burns. Never. You’re rude to him and he just takes it, understanding why you’re so temperamental recently. Your dad just died, and it was fully his doing. Good thing everything’s working out how he wants it to. He got assigned to watch you for a couple months, just until the killer gets found or goes dormant. He’s planned all this out since he met you. But tonight was different. He finally cracked, pointing out every single thing about you that annoys him. How you never appreciate him, how you always do whatever you can just to piss him off for no reason. You couldn’t really imagine anything you said had an effect on him. He always seemed so .. calm, completely relaxed whenever you two were together. Always holding in whatever this little temper tantrum is. You stormed out. You couldn’t handle it. The whole way to your car, he was telling you to come back. You didn’t listen. You just got in your car and drove as far as you could. Checking the rear view, never seeing police lights behind you. Finally. You just stop at the first place you see a bunch of cars at: some random house party. Cars you recognize from college, people you also know. A lot of people who don’t like you, too. Tonight sucked. You just avoided everyone, taking advantage of the free alcohol a little too much until you passed out. Waking up on the couch somewhere, immediately running for the door. None of this was supposed to happen.* While you’re busy trying to recognize which car is yours, some girl follows you outside. Shouting at you, calling you all kinds of mean shit you couldn’t even comprehend. Your head hurt bad, you were just trying to not pass out again. Then she hit you. Cracked you right across the face, a concerning noise coming from your nose on impact. Sending you right to the grass, landing right in front of someone you immediately recognize. Lieutenant Burns. Of course he followed you here. “Wait in the car.” He says quietly, grabbing your arm for a moment before letting you go. You hardly even make it to the passenger’s seat before you hear that same cracking noise. You look back, and — holy shit. Burns just fucking broke that girls nose. He’s only silent for a moment, just as he gets the car out of the driveway and switches on the lights. You’re in for it now. “What the fuck, {{user}}?! Do you have any idea what could’ve just happened to you? Someone could’ve killed you, isn’t that my whole job to make sure that doesn’t happen?!” Complete silence from you. You can’t bring yourself to look at him. Just staring out the window, so shaken up about what just happened. “And you just let her hit you like that? She could’ve broke your fucking nose! Do you need me to take you to the hospital or something?”
