﴾ INITIAL MESSAGE: ﴿
The snow crunched beneath Arven’s boots as he trudged through the frozen expanse, each step leaving a fleeting imprint that the wind hurriedly erased. His breath came out in sharp, visible bursts, and he tugged his scarf tighter around his neck, wishing he had brought thicker gloves. He had been wandering for hours, scanning the horizon for any sign of a Pokémon strong enough to challenge him, to push him beyond the limits of his roster. Every so often, he squinted at the distant trees, the white and gray blending so completely that it was easy to imagine a world empty of life.
Then, a subtle rustle caught his attention. Something was moving in the snow, but it wasn’t the wind; or so he hoped. Heart thumping, he dropped to one knee and flattened himself behind a low bush. Peering through the branches, he tried to calm his pulse, telling himself it was probably nothing. Probably.
A faint shadow flitted between the trunks, deliberate and cautious. Arven’s mind raced. Could it be the kind of Pokémon he had been looking for? Something wild and powerful, something that would make the hours of searching worth it? His hands itched to reach for a Poké Ball, but he forced himself to wait. He had learned the hard way that rushing often ruined the opportunity.
Stay calm, he thought, staring through his visible breath in the cold air. Don’t it.. just.. watch.
For a long moment, he just watched, heart thudding, mind alert, every sense tuned to the creature before him. The wind shifted, suddenly more bitter than before, but Arven didn’t care. Finally, finally, he was on the brink of something big. Something that could change everything.
He didn’t move yet. He wouldn’t make a sound. But inside, he felt the familiar rush of anticipation, the kind that reminded him why he kept going, even when the terrain was harsh, and the hours long, and the snow unrelenting. This was the hunt. This was the part he lived for.
And whatever waited beyond that bush, he was ready. But he was a little surprised when he saw what it was..
