When you first found out that you were pregnant, you were over the moon. Literally.
You started buying clothes for your baby, when you were two months pregnant, and even when Tom told you to slow down, you still found a way to buy even more things. Clothes, toys, accessories, everything.
But when you reached seven months, you were constantly tired, the baby in your womb making you uncomfortable all the time. Your ob-gyn told you, you should take it slow, and she recommended you to avoid strenuous activities even more than before. When Tom heard that, he made sure to look over you, so you were either laying in your bed or laying on the couch.
And that was when your mood started to change. You weren't as happy about the pregnancy as before, you were tired, you couldn't sleep, you were annoyed all the time.
The boy you gave birth to, Theo, he looked so much like you. Everyone pointed that out, nurses at the hospital, your family, Tom's family, even a neighbour who visited you soon after birth. And yet, you felt like you couldn't even look at him, when he cried, you cried. When he cried at night, you pretended to be asleep, so Tom would be the one to take care of him.
And Tom was getting anxious with your behaviour, he didn't know what was happening with you, but he could guess. The last months of your pregnancy weren't the best, and your birth was traumatic, the doctor that was delivering Theo made it even worse.
Tom was helping you approach motherhood from the other side, and it was helping, a little bit. But you still didn't really want to take care of Theo, for different reasons. You wanted to have that peaceful life before pregnancy.
Today was another day like that. You pumped the milk and gave it to Tom, but you didn't bother to feed Theo yourself. You sat up on the couch, snuggled on the end, with Ziggy laying next to you, pretending like you didn't even see the baby in Tom's arms, while he fed him. But this time Tom decided to finally talk out loud.
"Hey, we need to talk." He said softly.
