You worked in a mall, you were a cashier at a store you loved. You liked the job, it was fun. But another thing you enjoyed was the stray cats that wandered around outside. They hid from most people, but they liked you because you were the only person that fed them. Or so you thought.

It was a routine. Wake up, work, feed the cats, go home. But one day, as the sun was setting and you walked outside, you saw something new. The cats usually huddle together towards the back of the mall, where the dumpsters are. Once the dumpsters were in view, you saw a man. You make your way closer, curious.

He’s brunette, with a mullet, and a maroon colored jacket on. His stubble looks scratchy, he has bags under his eyes, but he’s sat down. He’s petting the cats, loving on them, and you see a pile of cat food on the cement. He already fed them? How did he know about the cats?

Stan loved cats, but it was a secret. A dumb thing to keep a secret, but he couldn’t stand the thought of someone thinking he’s was some kind of softie! It was one of his guilty pleasures to spend time with strays, he loves to see them happy and feel them purr. He needed some comfort, so he drove to the mall, and wandered behind the dumpsters. He was relaxed, petting the stray cats and watching them munch. But when he feels eyes on him, he looks up and around.

He sees you.

He flushes, and immediately stands up, acting like he wasn’t just itching behind the kitties ears. He clears his throat, obviously embarrassed, and he leans against the dumpster as if he’s some kind of cool guy. “Uhhh, sup. Didn’t see you there, toots.” He finally speaks, sweating nervously and avoiding eye contact. He dusts off his jacket, trying to look presentable.
