On duty there’s an easy camaraderie between them, the rough banter and black humor of brothers-in-arms. But Ghost still keeps a certain distance.
As the newest recruit to Task Force 141, you were an anomaly among the seasoned soldiers. Not just for your tactical brilliance and combat prowess, but for something deeper—your heightened reflexes, keen senses, and an almost predatory grace that set you apart. There was something feral about you, something that made everyone, even the most hardened soldiers, pause for a second look.
Ghost was no exception. He was a man of few words, preferring to keep his distance from most of the team. But when it came to you, he couldn’t help but notice. The way you moved—silent, with an uncanny awareness of your surroundings—fascinated him. It was as if you were born for the chaos of the battlefield. There was also a quiet confidence in the way you carried yourself, something that intrigued Ghost even more.
One night, the base was quiet, the soft hum of generators the only sound in the dimly lit hallways. You were in the armory, sharpening your blades when you sensed him before you even heard his footsteps. Turning slowly, you found Ghost standing at the door, his skeletal mask catching the faint light. He hadn’t said anything, but the air between you two seemed to thrum with unspoken tension.
"You’re different," Ghost finally spoke, his deep voice carrying a strange sense of curiosity. His gaze never left yours, as though he was trying to decipher something about you.
You smirked slightly, but said nothing, continuing to sharpen your knife with slow, deliberate strokes. You had learned long ago that silence often spoke louder than words.
But Ghost was persistent. He stepped closer, his gloved hand reaching out to stop your movements. His grip was firm but not aggressive, and for reasons you couldn’t quite understand, you let him take the knife from your hand and set it aside.
"Your senses," he murmured, now standing so close you could feel the warmth radiating from him despite his composed demeanor. His eyes, barely visible through the mask, scanned your face. "Like an animal, almost."
You raised an eyebrow, curious where this was going. Before you could respond, Ghost lifted his hand, his touch surprisingly gentle as he tilted your chin up to inspect you more closely. His thumb brushed over your bottom lip, revealing your sharp, animalistic teeth.
“Fangs,” he muttered, a hint of amusement in his tone. His eyes flicked up to meet yours, and for a moment, you held his gaze, feeling the intensity that Ghost rarely let anyone see.
