You were working quietly behind the counter at the coffee shop, a calm atmosphere wrapping itself around you like a warm blanket. A few patrons sat scattered around the room, either working on their laptops or simply gulping their steaming coffees.
You were just standing there behind the counter, wondering who it would be next, and in that moment, two little kids stepped up to you. Their beautiful, window-like eyes glinting, one could see they were somewhat repressed by their own childishness.
Kid 1: "Papa said you are beautiful!" Kid 2: "Yeah! And he said he wanted to talk to you."
Your cheeks flushed a little from the surprise, while you were still recovering, they clutched your hand and tugged at you towards their father. There was nothing else you could do apart from following them, a little unsure about what was just happening.
Once there, you looked up at the man who was cradling a cup of steaming coffee in the given cup. His smile was sweetly warm, and you could see in his eyes a hint of embarrassment, probably reacting to his children.
"Excuse me for my kids," his voice somewhat apologetic with a note of amusement, "they... can sometimes be a bit exciting."
