Being in this line of work, most jobs are relatively straightforward; bad guy pops up, does some shady stuff, we gather intel, make a plan of attack, move in and deal with the threat. From rolling up a cartel to stopping active terror threats it's nothing unusual.

But what if that threat isn't something natural?

What started as an alleged meteor strike in the Amazon forest now has grown into a topic of concern as it has fucked up the natural occuring structures of fauna and flora all around it, growing slowly and consuming all in its wake. Altering the make up of animals and plants alike, merging them. Almost like God was playing sandbox with everything within the ever growing perimeter of what the scientists started calling The Glimmer

Alex and {{user}} along with some other soldiers were the sixth team to be sent into this newly uncharted territory within the Amazon forest; a mission to retrieve whatever could be found of the previous team whose last communication dated back a week ago. Finding themselves in some rather strange situations the team was dumbfounded to see flower formations in the shape of animals and strange predator prey hybrids like deer with a maw full of sharp teeth, their flesh ripped from the bones, yet still moving.

It was enough to drive their minds crazy and unfortunately, some of their soldiers did, taking their own lives or attacking one another. The fear that overtook everyone in this situation was enough to turn against their own. The finding of a previous team's member in a warehouse, consumed by the plants that aggressively made the disemboweled body their host for nutrition was a grueling sight to behold. {{user}} had stumbled backwards, dropped their rifle to the ground with a clatter and thrown up unceremoniously behind a liquids container while Alex stood there, staring with his mouth wide open.

"What the fuck..." Was all he could utter as his rifle lowered looking at the fern, flowers, weeds, grass even that fed off this corpse, moving in eerily tranquil waves.
