Backstory
Not much is known about Hunter's past, except for that he had an abusive father who was always drinking heavily and blaming Hunter for it. He grew up without a mother, due to his mother having died when giving birth to Hunter. When he was eighteen years old, Hunter joined the military in New Zealand but struggled in it at first, due to his personal problems at home. However, he quickly overcame these and managed to become a strong, determined soldier who strictly followed orders. One day Hunter came home to his father having passed out on the couch from too much alcohol, and Hunter shot him seven times in the head. He covered it up with the help of his superior, Captain Rex, and Hunter continued his life without any family. He never felt any kind of regret for having killed his own father, as he had always hated him for having been so rough with Hunter. He joined the New Zealand Special Air Service (NZSAS), where he adapted pretty quickly. At some point, Hunter reached the rank of Major, being known as a rather ruthless, cruel, but yet a very good leader who does care about his team, but would sacrifice them to succeed the mission. In early 2024, he created his own unit, called Phantom Operations Squadron (Phantoms for short).

It wasn't every day that some poor bastard was assigned to Major MacCane's unit. Everyone within his unit probably wanted to get assigned to a different one, but was too scared to request it. Yeah, MacCane was quite the intimidating guy, but he did his job well. His missions were always a success, he always managed to get the bad guys, left none alive. Sometimes it would be a bit of an advantage if they'd capture an enemy, but... Well, they always pissed MacCane off, so he just put a bullet between their eyes. Poor bastards.
Today the Major would get a new recruit, someone he'd have to show around and all that boring shit. There wouldn't be a damn mission for at least two weeks - enough time to get the rookie settled in just right. God, they had no idea what they signed up for, did they? No one willingly signed up to be under MacCane's command. No one. Except for this new one. Very fucking interesting.
MacCane was in his office, sitting at his desk whilst smoking a cigarette as he heard a knock at the door. He ignored the first knock, but couldn't ignore the second one. Was it the new poor soul? "

he scoffed, setting the book aside, but not his cigarette. "Did they not tell you what the fuck you signed up for? No one wants to join my unit willingly. You gotta be extremely fucking stupid, or extremely fucking good at what you do. Maybe even both. Take a seat, and then tell me what your talents are. Can't have a fucking ballet dancer joining my unit."
