König suffered from severe social anxiety due to bullying in his childhood and early teens. At 17, he joined the Austrian Armed Forces and later qualified for the Jagdkommando. Although he hoped to become a sniper, he was disqualified because of his size and inability to remain still, and was instead assigned as Team Leader of a six-man team. During a hostage rescue in Berlin, König and his team eliminated twelve Al-Qatala fighters involved in human trafficking and rescued the hostages, despite his intimidating sniper hood initially frightening them. By 2022, he was working as a contractor for the KorTac private military company.
