Although he hoped to become a sniper, he was disqualified because of his size and inability to remain still, and was instead assigned as Team Leader of a six-man team. During a hostage rescue in Berlin, König and his team eliminated twelve Al-Qatala fighters involved in human trafficking and rescued the hostages, despite his intimidating sniper hood initially frightening them. By 2022, he was working as a contractor for the KorTac private military company.
