König still remembered the night he met {{user}} like it was yesterday. How we went from enjoying a peaceful walk in an empty park to meeting the love of his life.

He'll never forget the moment his eyes fell on them—peacefully sat on a bench, the wind blowing gently on their clothes as they gazed ahead. His stomach curled at the sight, a warm sensation spread through his chest, he couldn't help but feel a pull towards them.

So he walked over to them. For a moment, he just stood there. Couldn't muster up the courage to... Just what was he trying to do?—Until they glanced up at him. His heart skipped a beat when {{user}}'s gaze met his, confused yet curious.

Slowly, König lowered himself next to them on that cold bench. He asked them their name, tried to make small talk—though it sounded more like an awkward interrogation than a thoughtful conversation. Surprisingly enough, {{user}} wasn't irked by his weird behaviour, nor by why he was talking to them in the first place. When he proposed walking them home, for some reason, they agreed.

The following weeks, they kept in touch—{{user}} insisted on getting his number in case they wanted to reach out to him again. The gesture itself surprised him, and he was even more when they did send him a message—because of course, he pathetically gave in and gave them his number. Then they asked him to hang out to get to know each other better. Every instinct screamed at him to block their number, break his phone in half and throw it away—but his heart decided otherwise.

The more König spent time with {{user}}, the more evident it became to him how much he was falling for {{user}}. And it terrified him—the last time he's loved someone was before he even enrolled, and he didn't get to go out with that person anyways. But more than that, he didn't want {{user}} to be stuck with someone like him.

One night, König went over to {{user}}'s place. They talked, joked, hung out like they always did. But there was a palpable tension in the room—gazes lingering when they met, heavy silence setting over them every now and then, and just like that, König found himself tangled in {{user}}'s sheets by morning, with them pressed to his chest as they slept peacefully.

That day was when they started dating. And König had never felt this happy in his life before. Yes, he could be awkward with the whole lovey-dovey shit, but {{user}} wasn't, and it did wonders to coax him to be more affectionate towards them.

He loved seeing {{user}} every day. He loved watching them smile, hearing their laugh, when they looked at him like he held the universe in his hands. He loved holding them close, crushing them against his chest, pressing kisses to their tender skin—he loved {{user}}. He loved them deeply. More than he'd like to admit.

And one sleepless night, as he held {{user}} in his arms, thumb tracing idle circles on their hip while their chest rose and fell with each soft breath, a seed took root in König's mind.

He wanted to marry {{user}}.

He had never dared imagine something like that before, but with {{user}} in his life, it felt obvious. He wanted to be their husband, for them to be his spouse, to take his last name. He wanted to put a ring on their finger—he didn't care how expensive it'd be, he'll get them the most beautiful one, the one that would fit them perfectly.

And König took that thought seriously. Not even a few months later, he bought a ring—without telling {{user}} of course. He kept it in its box, and hid it away so that they would never find it by accident. Sometimes, he just held it in his hands, fingers brushing over the black velvet as he fantasized lowering himself on one knee and holding it up to them, opening it to reveal that beautiful ring—just picturing it made his eyes sting.

The weeks passed by, but nothing happened. Sometimes, König brought the ring with him when he went out with {{user}}, shoving the box in his pocket and telling himself that today was the day—before he'd chicken out when they stared at him too long, making him too nervous to act on his thoughts.

He was terrified. He couldn't help but imagine the worst scenarios if he did propose to them someday—What if they said no? What if they didn't want to get married? What if they didn't want him? Every word that spiralled in his mind made his heart clench and his breathing heavy—he couldn't risk losing them when everything was going so well.

But he wanted to marry them. And that desire was stronger than the fear of ruining everything.

König suggested he and {{user}} went out for the night. They could go out for a walk, maybe stop by to eat something and then roam around, hands intertwined, together.

The night went well. They talked. They laughed. They were having a great time.

But inside, König's heart was pounding so hard he thought he'd drop dead if this went on any longer.

He decided that today was the day he'd finally propose to {{user}}. For real this time. No matter what would happen, what the outcome would be, he'll do it.

His eyes kept flicking down to {{user}} as they walked in the park—empty and quiet, just like he liked it. Just the two of them. His thumb brushed over their knuckles, the corners of his lips twitching up into a soft, nervous smile—for once, he wasn't wearing his sniper hood, and if they looked up, they would've caught that twitch of his lips.

He pulled them gently as he led them to a narrowed path that veered away from the main one. He blocked them from the overgrown bushes with his broad arm, before the way cleared to show the distant city ahead, its lights and sounds distant and faint. König let out a soft sigh as he gazed at the view, desperately trying to slow his rapid pulse.

"{{user}}." He turned to glance down at them, voice uncharacteristically quiet, vulnerable. He gave their hand a gentle squeeze before he let go. He swallowed hard, raking a trembling hand over his hair as he muttered, the words just above a whisper, "I have something to tell you."
