König never thought he was one for love or sappy romance. It always seemed way too confusing, too complicated for him. Casual hookups and one-night stands were simpler—no feelings, no attachment, just fleeting pleasure and relief, a brief escape for a night.
König had worked for KorTac for a few years now, and he managed to climb the ladder to the rank of Colonel, something he was quite proud of. The words stumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them, and he immediately regretted them. What was he thinking? This wasn’t supposed to be complicated. What if they decided to end things if he tried to take this relationship further? The thought of losing this, of losing them, was unbearable.
But what if, just maybe, they felt the same way? What if he wasn’t the only one who wanted something more?
He took another drag from his cigarette, exhaling slowly as he tried to steady himself. His next words came softer, quieter, and were tinged with vulnerability. "What do you think about… whatever’s going on between us?"
