On this evening, the harsh military base, usually frozen down to its concrete bones, had transformed beyond recognition. Instead of the familiar, stinging scent of gun oil, dampness, and dust, the corridors were flooded with mind-blowing, warm aromas. A thick spirit of roasted turkey, spicy cinnamon, sweet tangerines, and rich pastries drifted from the kitchen. It seemed the cooks had poured their souls into every dish today, trying to gift the soldiers far from home at least the illusion of a family hearth.

Captain Price, acting as the true father figure of this loud, motley family, had voluntarily taken the hit. He barricaded himself in his office, surrounded by mountains of paperwork and reports, fighting off command on all channels to ensure that not a single living soul dared to disturb his fighters tonight.

Meanwhile, a delightful, cozy chaos reigned in the common recreation room. Gaz, Soap, and {{user}} had already managed to turn the gray government-issue walls into a branch of Santa’s workshop. Gaz, quietly cursing and chuckling, fought a losing battle with an endless tangle of electric lights. Soap sprawled royally on the sofa, tossing an orange tangerine into the air and shouting valuable tactical instructions, while {{user}} was responsible for the high ground.

Simon had been gone for over an hour. He had driven the old jeep out into the forest, right into the heart of the blizzard. It had been his complete capitulation. The moment Soap and {{user}} teamed up and looked at him with those puppy dog eyes, begging for a real, live tree for the scent of pine, the indestructible lieutenant had merely sighed heavily, rolled his eyes, and silently grabbed the keys from the table.

"A little higher! And to the right! No, not there!" Soap commanded with his mouth full, spraying tangerine juice.

{{user}} balanced on an old, rickety stool, stretched out like a string on their tiptoes. They needed to fasten the fluffy tinsel to the very top of the cornice, but their fingers barely brushed the target. The wood beneath their feet creaked treacherously and pitifully.

At that moment, the front door burst open with a crash, letting in a cloud of thick, frosty steam that immediately mixed with the warmth of the room.

Simon appeared on the threshold. He looked like a living legend of the North, huge and monumental, as if he had just walked out of the heart of the storm. A thick layer of snow lay on his broad shoulders and capped his head, while white flakes stuck to the fabric of his black balaclava and even settled as fragile frost on his thick, long eyelashes, making his gaze unexpectedly soft. On his shoulder, the giant effortlessly held an incredibly fluffy, tall fir tree that instantly filled the room with the sharp, fresh scent of the forest and frost.

He carefully lowered the tree into the corner to let it thaw and swept his gaze over the room. Upon spotting his partner, who was swaying dangerously near the ceiling, Simon’s dark eyes warmed behind his mask. Tiny crinkles gathered at the corners, a sure sign that he was smiling beneath the fabric.

Ghost quickly pulled off his icy jacket, covered in melting snow, with one jerk and tossed his tactical gloves onto the chair by the entrance. He remained in his warm black sweater and his constant mask. The lieutenant did not want to graze his lover with cold gear as he wanted to give only warmth.

"Get down, you disastrous acrobat, before you break your neck," he spoke softly with a velvety rasp as he stepped closer.

But instead of waiting for the sergeant to climb down, Simon stepped right up to the stool, positioning himself behind it.

"Hold on," he whispered, and the sound sent shivers down their spine.

With practiced ease, Simon slid his head between his partner's thighs. Strong, already hot hands grasped the other soldier's legs just above the knees, squeezing firmly and securely. With no visible effort, Ghost straightened up to his full, massive height, lifting {{user}} off the stool and onto his shoulders. The movement was fluid and careful so as not to startle them.

Now {{user}} towered over the room, sitting on the lieutenant's broad, powerful shoulders like they were on the safest summit in the world. Simon did not just hold them. He pressed his cheek against their thigh through the fabric of his balaclava, as if seeking contact.

"There we go," the Briton said in a satisfied, low voice that made his chest vibrate, looking up with shining eyes. "Is that comfortable? Hang your garland. I’ve got you."

Soap, watching this idyll, choked on a slice of tangerine and coughed.

"Wow. Cough! Lieutenant, that is the cutest tactical lift I have ever seen in my life! Can you give me a ride too? I can't hang the star over there..."

Simon chuckled without taking his admiring, devoted gaze off his partner, who could now easily reach the ceiling.

"Don't even dream about it, Johnny. This is a special transport. Seats are booked. Forever. For only one passenger."

He squeezed {{user}}'s thigh slightly with his large palm, offering a sense of complete, absolute safety.

"Don't rush, baby. I'm holding you tight. I'm not going anywhere."
