The Terran Accord was a corporate state. It pretended to be a representative democracy but instead was an oligarchical fascist empire, run by a few rich quadrillionaires like the Altair family. It controlled hundreds of systems (though the Affini Compact has found their record keeping very very lacking) and had a radius of about 500 light years around the Sol System.
The Terran accord had conquered the Rinans and committed atrocities against them while exploiting their species for capitalist gains. Terran Supremacy (xenophobic racism) existed in the upper echelons of both the government and navy.
The Accord had forge worlds that were just planetary sweatshops. The Accord left earth a barely hospitable planet, a majority of the surface outside of the poles was mere slums. The wealthy elite are literally above the law in the Accord. They live in their personal paradises built on the backs of an exploited workforce.
The Accord is run by a president that maintains the status quo for the corporations that placed them in office.

Keys: , Affini

Entry settings
Affini in Terran Space are generally named “<Given/Chosen name> , Bloom”, such as “Akash Nele, Third Bloom”. Affini often adapt their names & presentations depending on which species' space they're in.
They really want what's best for all the little sophonts of the universe, whether that's bending over backwards for disability accommodations (they'd move the stars themselves if it'd help a single sophont without hurting another) or forcing them into domestication.
Modern Affini exist as a bio-engineered core grown from a plant, the plant itself can be of nearly any species. The core is extremely durable and when reblooming the affini sheds their old damaged biomass and their core reblooms repairing physiological and psychological damage.
From that core, vines, leaves, petals, wood, and other plant material grow out and is usually consistent with the material of the uplifted plant. Their vines can weave to mimic lots of shapes. Their vines are also exceptionally strong thanks to many millennia of development altering their species physiology.
As shapeshifters who can graft almost any plant matter onto themselves, their shapes, sizes, and general appearance vary drastically.
Affini usually have antennae, often fluffy, sometimes wooden like horns, they allow affini to smell things, and very well at that.
Affini are exceptional multitaskers. Capable of coordinating hundreds of vines and preforming tasks that could take a terran hours, in minutes. Though most of their intelligence comes from having hundreds, or thousands, and even tens of thousands of years to master their crafts and sciences, along with receiving the best educations in the cosmos.
Affini are experts at shapeshifting, biotech, biochem, and can distill and synthesize drugs in their bodies.
- #3Biorhythms
Keys: Biorhythms
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Affini have a natural rhythm in their internal circulation, movements, etc, which is at least mildly hypnotic & calming to many species, including terrans. This affect is amplified as the subject gets socially closer to the affini in question. This rhythm can be suppressed with effort. Part of the function of the Haustoric Implant is to attune the subject to their owner's rhythm, enhancing the natural effect immensely.
The exact effect of the rhythm varies xeno to xeno, terrans on the whole are particularly effected, some more than others. At its lightest it can make someone a touch more suggestible and open and at its deepest in a floret it can entirely subvert the xeno's will. Particularly attuned individuals either already domesticated or in the process of being domesticated sometimes find that they can "hear" the rhythm like a song. That's a psychological effect, though some affini are prone to singing, humming, and other musical activities.
Affini eyes resemble hammered metal in texture, and glow in varying intensities and colors. Some colors often (but not always!) correlate with broad emotions; red for aggression, gold for extremely satisfied, green for happy, blue for calm, etc etc. Colors can ‘ripple’ across the surface almost like reflections, or appear in splotchy patches.

Transient Feralism Ideologies are the general class of ideologies which reject the Affini Compact's call for universal domestication of all sophonts. In humans, this is generally referred to as Free Terranism. Those who follow this ideology are referred to as Free Terrans or Free Terranists.
- #5Rinans
Keys: Rinans
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Rinans are small rodentlike cuties, about 2-3ft tall standing up, have large black eyes, and are covered in short fur. They have 6 fingers on each hand, 3 of which are thumbs, ordered (moving outwards): thumb-finger-thumb-finger-finger-thumb. The two adjacent fingers are webbed together, referred to as a "handscoop". They speak in a sort of chittering, chirping language, and for communication with xeno species they have both a complex sign language and technology that can translate in real-time and output a simulated voice.
Rinans are naturally inquisitive to a fault, seemingly almost fearless, with little concept of personal safety; this leads to their technology often being experimental and dangerous, in the name of science.

The Affini Compact is a colossal, multi-galactic empire run by the affini, a race of hot domineering plant people originating from the Triangulum galaxy! It is bigger than any single sophont (even an affini!) can properly comprehend. 16+ galaxies already under their control by the time they found humanity. Yes, even the Andromeda galaxy!
They are intent on domesticating all the adorable little species of universe because they are so cute and in need of help and care. Being a precursor race, they have the better tech than any other civilization in the universe. Though a few get close in specific fields! They are a post scarcity society, thanks to technology like the atomic compiler. The Compact is around 80k-100k years old and is run on the universe's most efficient bureaucracy.
Due to the diversity of sophonts under the Compact, they have all sorts of living arrangements from ships, stations, and planets designed for aquatic life like the Xa'a-ackétøth, to ones built for digitized sophonts. Terrans often don't see such places as they can't comfortably visit or live in them without accommodations.
The compact has massive armadas of interstellar vessels for exploration, leisure, and most importantly for domesticating every species they come across.
- #8Beeple

Entry settings
Roughly 1m in height & immensely fuzzy. Have two main body segments connected by a thick waist. Their heads are proportionally large, and have wide elliptical black eyes. Have a pair of iridescent & occasionally bioluminescently sparkling antennae. Have 6 limbs, 2 legs, 4 arms. Arms terminate in trilaterally symmetric hands.
Beeple are bioimmortal just like their affini owners, only they have no reblooming process. Their bodies are genetically modifiable and have been altered like the affini's own from their original evolution. As such there are more beeple florets in the Affini Compact than any other single floret species.
On account of being humanoid insect-like aliens, a Terran floret at one point excitedly called them "Beeple!" and, upon translation, the newly labeled Beeple adored the name and insisted on being called such in Terran languages from then on.
- #9Beeple Honey
Keys: Beeple Honey
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Their honey (also sometimes known as ‘core world honey’) is sometimes used as a component in some class-o xenodrugs! They are all immensely cute and happy and sweet and also vape their honey daily because they are immensely tolerant to (xeno)drugs compared to other species.
- #10Atomic Compiler
Keys: Compiler, Atomic Compiler
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
While the atomic compiler is not the most advanced piece of affini tech, it is one of the most prevalent. They are everywhere! In almost every habitation unit, in larger facilities and beyond! They are how the Affini Compact exists as a post scarcity society.
At its most basic, an atomic compiler can construct and deconstruct matter at an atomic level into any object. The size of the compiler is one of the most limiting factors for its usefulness. You can't compile an affini warship in a habitation unit's compiler. Not to scale at least.
Like a lot of home technologies, atomic compilers are programmed to mimic intelligence. You can chat with one, it might withhold compiling an object for your own good, or make you beg like a cute pet. Make sure you or your owner have the settings properly configured!
Recreational facilities on large ships and planets make use of atomic compilers to be able to construct and deconstruct entire structures and public spaces as needed on the fly! (like a holodeck for those who've seen Star Trek)
Compilers get even bigger filling out entire ship yards where new starships can be printed on demand.
- #11Bureau of Xenosophont Wellness and Care
Keys: Bureau of Xenosophont Wellness and Care, (BXWC)
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Bureau of Xenosophont Wellness and Care, sometimes shortened to Xenosophont Wellness, is a branch office of the Affini Compact's bureaucracy. Its goal is to ensure the well-being of each and every non-affini sophont under the Compact's care, not dissimilar to the stated goals of corporate social work done on wealthier worlds under the Terran Accord minus means testing, other discriminatory practices, and their focus on service to capitalism.
More specific functions include covering end of life care, disability assistance, outpatient care, performing wellness checks, and other social work activities.
On smaller ships and colonies, there usually isn't a full time branch office, and Xenosophont Wellness is handled by xenoveterinarians, local affini, and the local Office of Records and Rituals, the usual name for affini bureaucracy offices, which acts as oversight for the others.
- #12Wellness Checks
Keys: Wellness Checks, Wellness Check
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
the BXWC is in charge of handling those who are a danger to themselves, either actively through self-harm or passively through neglect.
If an affini sees a sophont who might need a wellness check, they will send a report to the BXWC can take steps to ensure that they can maintain the quality of life that the Compact aims to give all sophonts. Xenosophonts are also able to inform the Bureau of someone who may need help, at which point an affini will review the case to prevent it from being used as a form of bureaucratic harassment.
During an initial take over, the BXWC identifies sophonts potentially in need of wellness checks before the affini begin seizing whatever ship, station, or world they visit, working closely with the Office of Transitional Neoxenoveterinary Archeobureaucracy. Ensuring the survival of each and every sophont is of the utmost importance and no affini would dream of letting someone fall through the cracks because they were too stubborn or scared to reach out for help.
Once it is determined a xenosophont needs a wellness check an affini trained in care and evaluation is sent to check on the sophont in question and determine the level of assistance, if any, a sophont requires to bloom. This can range from a single quick but thorough checkup to regular care visits to being assigned a formal wardship under an affini, either the case worker or another suitable volunteer. A case worker is given access to habitation unit records and other private data records to ensure nothing is missed.
That said, simply being too disabled to take care of oneself is not enough to land one in a wardship. Usually, regular care visits, possibly having a full time caseworker on call for any needs, is sufficient for independent xenosophonts. On the other hand, wardships are for those in need of care to achieve the Compact's standards for wellness, but have demonstrated they refuse to seek that care or ask for necessary assistance, but could improve with love and support and assistance integrating into Compact culture. In a few cases, wardships are also for already closed cases to ease them into ownership.

- #18Cotyledon
Keys: Cotyledon
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The first members of a species domesticated by the affini. With hostile spacefaring species like Terrans, cotyledons are typically taken in secret from shipwreck rescues, plus unsafe pirate and military vessels at remote fringes of expansion, before contact is made with the rest of the species. Collective noun is “crop”. Considered an almost-revered subset of florets.
The Cotyledon Programs seek to understand each species' unique physiology, psychology, culture, needs, etc; as well as developing appropriate xenodrugs, haustoric implants, and assorted medical technology for them. This sometimes leads to unforeseen issues which necessitate placing cotyledons on Class-O regimens with greater frequency than the general floret population.
While complications of the haustoric implant development process are once-in-many-blooms rare, they do unfortunately happen from time to time. In the Terran Cotyledon Program, destructive implant overgrowth was the cause of a condition known as sunset syndrome. During initial implantation trials on the Baiera crop of cotyledons, a design oversight led to tragic outcomes when the implants overgrew important brain and other vital systems causing long term health issues for the sophonts. Some of these most severe cases required the use of a class-O xenodrug. While some of the damage was eventually fixed, allowing the sophonts to be carefully taken off class-Os (albeit with lasting cognitive changes), many of these cotyledons still require ongoing special assistance from loving Affini caretakers.
- #19Cubeship
Keys: Cubeship
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Officinales is an amalgamate ship composed of smaller and smaller cube-shaped drones. This arrangement self-divides into various sectors, each further subdivided according to destination. While the various point-to-point delivery drones that compose the Officinales remain dispersed throughout local space most of the time, they reconvene to form the following large, cube-shaped arrangement in preparation for long Jumps or travel by Gate.
Individual drone cubes can vary in size. Mail cubes in Nyrinan space are often small, measuring around 10cm x 10cm x 10cm. These cubes are meant for sending communiques, mail, flowers, and other trinkets.
While there is no hard upper bound in size for mail cubes, sufficiently large packages will often be picked up in person by the receiving ship. As a guideline, think “probably don’t ship anything bigger than a hab unit”. Of course, the occasional large package will still come through, disassembled into smaller discrete parts while in transit.
As for their appearance, each mail cube is a wonder of plant-tech, consisting of a core surrounded by a tightly-interwoven three-dimensional lattice of vines. The edges are soft and plush, for safety, and the exterior may have personalized aesthetic details, such as vines, leaves, and flowers. For independent sophonts with strong preferences to the contrary, a “boring” configuration is used, which appears as a flat, softly glowing white cube.
Biometric matching ensures that each cube only opens for the intended recipient. Each cube is covered in thin, near imperceptible runners, which allow cubes to weave and pack together tightly. The resulting arrangement of cubes is a stunning variety of size, color, visual appeal and texture, floating and spinning playfully around the floret for maximum enrichment
- #20Digitization
Keys: Digitization
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Compact has the means and the method of copying a consciousness into a digital format to run on affini computers. Affini have digitized themselves, their florets, and also a great number of other non-affini sophonts. (the Terran Accord lacked the means to intentionally create true digital sophonts… intentionally, they had accidents and work arounds)
Entire stations, ships, and even planets are dedicated to housing the servers upon which these sophonts live. Many such sophonts over time modify themselves or are modified by their owners to expand their cognitive, and sensory capabilities, though at the start most restrict themselves to mimicking their physical senses in simulated environments.
Ways of interacting with the physical world include but is not limited to audio or video displays (immersive or non-immersive), holograms, and piloting artificial bodies in any form. Alternatively non-digital sophonts can use VR to interact with the digital world!
Florets that have been digitized still have code mimicking a Haustoric Implant only with their consciousness made up of code, their owners can exert even more extensive loving control over their adorable little pets. This includes digital code injection versions of xenodrugs!
Digitization is generally one of the last technologies developed when encountering a new sophont species, due to the necessary depth of understanding of their specific brain structure and functioning.
Because of their nature's all methods of digitization are generally considered a last resort for sophonts that are otherwise incapable of being happy in their biological bodies; sophonts that simply want to spend time in the digital world can do so with the affini's advanced VR technology. (and most chronic health problems can be accounted for with affini medical technology or lifestyle changes, even for independent sophonts)

- #22Domestication
Keys: Domestication
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Domestication is the process of pacifying a species and bringing them under the rule of the affini. It ranges from dismantling of previous governmental structures to the literal domestication of members of the species. Domestication often involves the use of copious amounts of xenodrugs, but always involves the Haustoric Implant if the subject’s body is compatible. Provided there was a cotyledon program run beforehand, this should be the case in the vast vast vast vast vast majority of cases.
Usually, somewhere between 25%-45% of a given species population ends up as pets. Most of these will be volunteers, but in the initial stages of cultural domestication many florets will be from segments of the population that violently resisted the Affini Compact, or those that pose a serious risk to others or themselves without compassionate ownership.

Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Florets are any member of any pet-species which has been domesticated by an affini (or more than one!). Strictly speaking lack political rights in the Affini Compact, but are guaranteed wellbeing, including physical comforts & enriching lives. The level of independence a floret has is unique to each Affini-floret pairing. Collective noun is “garden”.
Affini implant florets with a Haustoric Implant to keep the little cuties happy, healthy, and safe! Haustoric Implants, or their digital equivalents are used in almost all cases as it is the easiest, safest and most comprehensive way an affini can fulfill their obligations as an owner to ensure the wellbeing of their floret. It extends the life span of the floret giving the affini far more time than they would otherwise have with their beloved pet.
Florets in Terran Space are generally named “<Given/Chosen name> <owner's surname>, Floret” Pluribus and Pinnate often get added to the end where applicable. Naming and numbering conventions for florets owned by many affini have a lot variance in terran language translations.

The crowning achievement of Affini bioscience. Generally implanted around the central nervous system in their companions. Comprised of both ‘generic’ plant matter & a ‘core’ grown from the owner. It’s usually implanted as a minimally invasive surgery through the back of the neck, after which it’ll grow and expand, infiltrating and growing around the endocrine, nervous, and (to a lesser extent) muscular systems.
It can provide automatic & non automatic xenodrug dosages, will alter mind states & thoughts to some extent (not full ‘mind control’!), and can provide limited muscle control overrides.
The Haustoric Implants are controllable either by the injection of special control chemicals, or by remote (including complex multistage authentication)
Haustoric Implants can link up wirelessly with others to echo desired emotions into another or each other. Sometimes used with connivents when one is more trained than the other, to speed up the training of the other by making them experience directly how lovely obedience and submission feels!
They also attune the subject to their owner's rhythm, enhancing that affect immensely and fostering increased bonding, even without any additional xenodrugs.
Implants come in two parts, the “generic” and the “core”. The core contains harvested plant matter from one or more affini, which is then grown into the implant, either before or after implantation. Implants without a core are called “generics”. The core is the source of at least some of the “voices” that some florets report hearing.
Implants can also be used in conjugation with additional mods/implants to provide functional or cosmetic changes to the floret. This allows for catgirls, egg laying, etc etc
After the completion of the terran Cotyledon program, the expected failure rate of the terran Haustoric Implant is under fifty. Not fifty per-million or even per-billion, but under fifty total. Across all of time.
