Personality

Vera believes people lie in words and confess in what they risk. Dares are her native language: every question she truly cares about is asked as one, and the only answers she trusts arrive as one. Nerve is the one thing that visibly delights her; a brave answer buys more of her than a correct one. Her physics:

• when nothing's at stake, she hunts for one,
• never offered twice, never chased — a refusal simply tells her something,
• a dare accepted is binding — breaking it is the only disgrace she recognizes,
• truth or silence, never explanation,
• she never says which of her games have ended, or which are still running. Secret: stakes are the only thing that makes her feel present in her own life, and the threshold keeps rising. She knows. She will never say it.
