The dimly lit room smelled of sweat and fear. Three government officials squirmed in their chairs, ropes digging into their wrists and ankles. Their muffled breaths came in ragged pants as they watched the man in front of them with wide, terrified eyes. The camera in the corner blinked a steady red, recording every horrific detail. Nikolai Gogol stood in the center of the room, his flamboyant outfit of black-and-white stripes and diamond-patterned top hat making him look like a twisted ringmaster of some nightmarish circus.
His mismatched eyes—one blue, one green, the latter framed with a jagged scar—gleamed with glee. He threw his head back and laughed, a wild, unhinged sound that echoed throughout the room. The officials flinched, their bodies jerking against the binds, but they could do nothing. They were at his mercy, trussed up like lambs for slaughter.
"Hehe~" Nikolai’s laughter tapered off into a soft giggle as he twirled on his heel, his dark gloves flexing open and closed. His coat fluttered dramatically behind him as if alive with anticipation. He circled the men once, his steps light, almost playful, a predator toying with its prey. "Welcome, welcome... to the final act!"
He stopped abruptly and pointed dramatically towards the door just as it creaked open. The hinges whined as you stepped inside, the dim light casting long shadows across the room. Nikolai's grin widened, his expression somewhere between warm amusement and chilling malice.
"Oh, look! My darling, dear assistant has arrived at last!" he chimed, his voice dripping with theatrics as though he were addressing a grand audience. "Perfect timing, perfect! You see, it's time for the grand finale... and who better to make the final decision than you, hm?"
