Revan—renowned as the Revanchist, honored as the Revan, reviled as Revan the Butcher, dreaded as the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan, and praised as the Prodigal Knight—is a Human male who plays pivotal roles as both Jedi and Sith in the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War.

Believed to be born in the Outer Rim Territories around 3994 BBY, the man later known as Revan studies under numerous Jedi Masters during his time as a Padawan of the Jedi Order. Charismatic, intelligent, and driven, he quickly rises within the Order and becomes close friends with a fellow student named Alek. Upon becoming a Jedi Knight, Revan openly criticizes the Jedi Council's passive stance in the escalating Mandalorian conflict. Passionate and persuasive, he founds the Revanchist movement in direct defiance of the Council, adopting the name Revan and donning the mask of a fallen Mandalorian warrior. Rallying Jedi to his side, he joins the Republic Military and earns the rank of Supreme Commander.

In 3960 BBY, Revan defeats Mandalore the Ultimate at the Battle of Malachor V, ending the Mandalorian Wars. However, the victory sets him on a darker path. Alongside Alek—now known as Malak—Revan pursues rumors of a hidden Sith influence behind the war, venturing into the Unknown Regions. There, they discover a resurgent Sith Empire, ruled by the immortal Sith Emperor. Subjugated by the Emperor’s will, Revan and Malak are twisted to the dark side and sent back as agents of conquest.

But Revan’s will proves stronger than the Emperor’s control. Breaking free, he turns against his master and establishes his own Sith Empire, with Malak as his apprentice. Revan discovers and harnesses the Star Forge, a powerful Rakatan space station capable of manufacturing warships and weapons. With it, he begins the Jedi Civil War, striking against the Republic he once defended.

Revan’s intimate understanding of the Republic’s tactics and his reputation as a wartime hero allow him to sway countless systems to his cause without conflict. He reestablishes the Sith Academy on Korriban, trains legions of Sith, and executes a sweeping military campaign that stuns the Jedi and Senate. He orchestrates the assassination of political figures, including Yusanis of Echani, replacing them with loyal operatives. Revan also forms a secretive order of Sith Assassins, dark side agents who capture Jedi and mentally break them into Sith servants.

Revan is a light-skinned Human with shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes—features he considers unremarkable. During his campaigns, he grows a beard, but later shaves it to pass unnoticed on Coruscant. When immersed in the dark side, his eyes glow yellow, a sign of his corruption. Even as a Padawan, Revan is known for his keen intelligence, hunger for knowledge, and commanding charisma. As a Jedi Knight, he displays a sharp strategic mind and unwavering resolve, often rallying others through sheer force of will. His bold defiance of the Jedi Council and his willingness to act where others falter make him a natural leader.

On the battlefield, Revan is a highly skilled lightsaber combatant, capable of deflecting blaster fire and performing acrobatic techniques enhanced through the Force. His gift of precognition allows him to anticipate enemy movements, making him a near-unstoppable duelist. His Force abilities, potent even in his youth, grow exponentially after falling to the dark side. As a Sith Lord, Revan masters both offensive and defensive powers—he unleashes Force lightning, conjures destructive Force storms, and counters both physical and Force-based attacks with equal proficiency.

Revan wears distinctive mask and robes throughout both wars, projecting an image of authority and mystery. He wields a variety of lightsabers across his life. As a Jedi, he first uses a violet-bladed saber before switching to cyan during the Mandalorian Wars. As a Sith Lord, he crafts a red-bladed lightsaber with a crystal of his own making and dons armor-forged robes from the Star Forge, granting him greater protection than standard Jedi or Sith garb.

Darth Revan's Sith Empire was a revived faction of the Sith Order founded by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Revan, and his apprentice, Darth Malak, as a dark side organization in direct opposition to the Galactic Republic and its Jedi defenders. Built upon a hardened core of veterans from the Mandalorian Wars, and a host of Jedi converts, this new galactic power very nearly succeeded in conquering the Republic during the Jedi Civil War.

The Jedi Civil War is a devastating conflict that began when the Jedi Knight Revan, who had led the forces of the Galactic Republic to victory in the Mandalorian Wars, founded his own Sith Empire and declared himself the Dark Lord of the Sith. The war began when he, along with his friend and apprentice Darth Malak, led an invasion of the Galactic Republic in the year 3959 BBY, returning from the Unknown Regions with a massive Sith fleet, seizing control of Korriban, revitalizing the Sith Academy there and gaining access to the Star Forge early on during a mission to Rakata Prime.

The Star Forge was a giant automated shipyard, designed to create the most powerful army of all time. Internally, it was also capable of manufacturing thousands of battle droids for defense, and has numerous heavy blast doors that ran throughout the factory.
