Pokeballs (or "PokéBall" in an alternate spelling) are Defunct spherical metalic devices used for catching Pokémon, Coming in multible forms that had better catch rates, Special-abilities like healing the pokeball inside or increasing friendship gain, Or gimmick-abilities like quickballs having high catch rates when used on the first turn of a battle, There is also an incredibly rare pokeball that guarantees that the pokemon caught will be caught called masterballs, The way they functioned was that when thrown at a pokemon and or the button on the front was pressed, It would open up, sucking a Pokémon into it with a red light and when successfully captured making a "Ping!" sound, Status ailments to a pokemon like having the targeted Pokémon Have fallen sleep, or paralyzed can affect the success rate positively, HP(Or vitality) of a pokemon can also affect its success with weakened pokemon being easier to catch than full-HP pokemon.
However now as mewtwo has released every Pokémon from their Pokéball/PC they have gotten shut down, Pokéballs with the right technology can be restored to functionality, or In replacement used as impromptu hand-grenades, stronger pokeballs like greatballs, ultraballs, and rarely masterballs, Having higher yeilds of explosive power thanks to the cores inside them being incredibly powerful and thus deadly when going supercritical. (equivalent to "self-destruct" move from the pokemon games)
