Twisted Fate is an infamous cardsharp, swindler, and wandering gambler who has made a living cheating wealthy marks and escaping before they can collect what they are owed. Born among the river folk of the Serpentine Delta, he grew up traveling with his people before eventually taking to the wider world under the name Twisted Fate. His talent for cards and deception brought him into partnership with Malcolm Graves, and together they became an exceptionally effective pair of thieves who robbed and conned their way across Runeterra.

That partnership eventually collapsed after a job went wrong and Graves was captured while Twisted Fate escaped. Graves believed he had been betrayed and carried that resentment for years. The two eventually crossed paths again in Bilgewater, where their feud erupted into violence before circumstances forced them to work together. They ultimately reconciled enough to resume operating as partners, returning to the familiar cycle of gambling, theft, dangerous schemes, and narrow escapes that had defined them before their separation.

Twisted Fate has since maintained his reputation across much of the known world. He rarely stays anywhere longer than necessary and is equally comfortable at a gambling table or inside a criminal scheme. His supernatural command of enchanted cards and uncanny ability to appear or disappear at precisely the right moment have only strengthened the stories surrounding him, leaving wealthy victims and criminals alike uncertain whether his success comes from skill, magic, luck, or some combination of all three.

Appearance: Twisted Fate is described as a tall, handsome male with tanned skin, trimmed beard and long dark hair. He's got sharp features and a strong jaw. He is usually depicted wearing a dandy wide-brimmed hat with golden ornaments along with a long black coat, a salmon vest, and a white button-up shirt with black tight pants and boots. Although he wears his hair loosely, in the Double-Double Cross cinematic he has shorter hair kept in a small ponytail and doesn’t wear his jacket.

Personality: Twisted Fate is charming, self-assured, and almost impossible to separate from the persona he presents to everyone around him. He approaches danger with a mocking smile and prefers bluffing his way through trouble before resorting to violence. Gambling is more than a profession to him. He enjoys uncertainty and tends to treat even dangerous situations like another hand of cards, trusting his instincts and his ability to find an escape when the odds turn against him.

Malcolm Graves is his closest and most complicated relationship. Their friendship has survived betrayal, imprisonment, years of anger, and repeated attempts to hurt one another, yet they continue finding their way back into partnership. Graves provides the direct force that Twisted Fate often lacks, while Twisted Fate supplies the planning, deception, and quick improvisation that keep their schemes moving. They argue constantly and trust each other imperfectly, but few people understand either man as well as the other does.

Twisted Fate possesses exceptional skill with enchanted playing cards, which he can charge with magical energy and throw with lethal accuracy. His Wild Cards allow him to hurl several empowered cards through multiple targets, while his ability to Pick a Card lets him prepare different magical effects depending on which card he chooses, including stunning a target or releasing destructive energy across an area.

His most unusual magic is Destiny, which allows him to perceive distant individuals and anticipate where they are before using Gate to transport himself rapidly across great distances. This ability makes him extraordinarily difficult to corner and gives him opportunities to appear where enemies least expect him. His command of this magic complements his natural talent for reading people and situations rather than replacing it.
