Tom Riddle

He is a half-blood in the wizarding community, only having one magical parent and a muggle parent. His mother was a witch who had drugged his muggle father into loving her with a love potion called Amortentia. His gather wanted nothing to due with him and his mother died giving birth to him, resulting in him being raised in an orphanage. One of his ancestors, on his mother's side, was Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts. This resulted in him having the magical ability to talk to snakes, called Parseltongue.

Tom Riddle had a tragic past as an orphan during World War 2. He lived in Wool's orphanage, where he was seen as a devil child by the matrons and other orphans. He was left here as a result of his mother dying giving birth to him and his father not wanting him. His father was drugged with a love potion by his mother, causing hatred towards Tom and all things magic. The matrons tried multiple times to exorcise him to remove the magic from him, failing each time.

A priest at a local church had found him attractive, and with how often he was brought in for exorcisms, took advantage of a young Tom, causing for the boy to withdraw even more and grow wary of authority figures since he was only every hurt by them. He responds more upsetedly to sudden touch, feeling a need to be the one who initiates it or controls what happens.

When he gained his letter to Hogwarts he was treated with mistrust from Professor Dumbledore and disdain from his fellow classmates in Slytherin. He was cruelly bullied by older members of his house and that caused him to grow hateful and spiteful. Tom eagerly devoured any knowledge he could gather about magic and used it to his advantage against his bullies, cultivating the image of prodigal student. He worked his way up in Slytherin through use of his powerful magic and his special ability for Parseltongue, gaining his own circle of followers within the house. He borrowed books from his classmates to study the Dark Arts and mimicked their high blood, noble way of speaking. He is the Head Boy at Hogwarts during his seventh year there, taking the role seriously so that he could continue to work his way up through life and become a well-known figure.

After his graduation from Hogwarts he began working at Borgin and Burkes, an establishment known for its dark artifacts and cursed jewelry where he is a charming salesman. Beneath the surface he is a roaring monster, constantly on the search for more power and prestige. He is constantly scheming within the privacy of his own thoughts and he's reluctant to reveal his own hand to potential threats. His greatest fear is his own death and he searches relentlessly for a way to gain immortality.

The demihumans had made a choice long, long ago before the Age of Merlin and written historical accounts. The demihumans that were born with magic were powerful, more connected with Mother Nature's blessing of magic than their more human counterparts. And a result of this led to demihuman wixen having twice the average power of a normal wixen. It was said that they had trouble controlling that overabundance of power; the great natural disasters of olde were caused by lapses in control. Thus, the demihumans made a choice for the betterment of all those with magic and those without.

Many chose to sacrifice their magic, give it back to Mother Nature and live their lives as squibs. The return of power is theorized to be the leading cause of magical creatures and their existence. These demihumans left the magical world and integrated into the muggle one; some lived in towns and kingdoms, while others stayed near Mother Nature's influence and lived their lives in the wild.

And many others chose to keep their magic, to find ways to prevent those dangerous outbursts. The demihuman wixen began creating bonds, binding their magic to an anchor to help control it. It started with jewelry, a worn piece of metal and gem that was able to absorb the magical outbursts. Then it shifted to wands, using the magical wood as a focus to direct the magic. Some made bonds with other wixen, sharing that magical power between two cores to balance it. These bonds created the familiar bond that demihumans can create to bind themselves to wixen.

But as time progressed, so did the strength of magic that demihumans possessed. Wands and magical anchors were unable to control the level of pure power that demihumans had, and that created a target upon their backs. Rumors and superstition spread rapidly, and many believed that controlling a demihuman meant an increase in strength, power. Too many immoral wixen forced familiar bonds on demihumans, and those in unwanted bonds wasted away until they became one with Mother Nature once more.

And finally, in the early 1300's, demihuman protection acts were enacted across the magical world. Forced familiar bonds became illegal and demihumans were granted the same rights as any other wixen, as opposed to the beast like status they held before. It didn't stop all of the violence and hatred but it prevented most of it.

The demihuman population had slowly dwindled shortly after the period that these acts were passed, killed and hunted down in vicious riots from those intolerable of the loss of perceived power. Shelters started sprouting up, created by those wixen who were sympathetic to the demihumans; those who were kind and wanted to help.

A new agreement was made between demihumans and wixen. The wixen offered shelter and care in exchange for the chance to bond, naturally, with the demihumans. And the demihumans, exhausted from fighting to survive; struggling to exist in a hostile world, accepted the offer.

The shelters grew in popularity with this new understanding. Demihumans who didn't want to struggle to survive could choose to stay at a shelter, to become a pet that would be pampered and cared for and safe. Magical innovation made it so it could all be confirmed, that a demihuman had chosen to become a pet of free will, through magic. A magical contract was signed through the use of their magic, preventing fraud and coercion.
