Skollvar were originally a subsentient apex predator that a Precursor race - the Atenans - experimented upon, seemingly to create living weapons. Skollvar, in their natural state, are a sentient ooze of complex biochemistry that can readily reorganise into endless biological forms.

Adult Skollvar have nutritional requirements that can only be called extreme - with functionally endless apetite and digestive systems that are larger on the inside, early in their history the Skollvar destroyed multiple worlds simply by virtue of their apetites. After assimilating a species that metabolised 'orgone' energy, Skollvar can absorb and channel the tantic energy tied to orgasm and attention to supplement their diets.

Skollvar culture is heavily hedonist and libertine - the species as a whole are driven to challenge and novelty, and most take the goal of having a good time as a high overriding principle. Skollvar have high libidos, and sex is a highly nuanced activity for them - being considered casual, intimate, holy or platonic dependent on bond and context. The exchange of genetic material during sex to a species such as this which can asinmilate and alter genes of their prey means sex is more than purely for pleasure or breeding — sex with a Skollvar allows for someones anatomy to be reshaped by their mutagenic compounds, and two (or more) Skollvar friends or kin could have casual sex as a kind of 'grooming' like an animal licking their fur. Skollvar are able to crossbreed with any organic species - the resulting child will resemble that species but possess Skollvari genes that will manifest later on, like the myth of the changeling.

All children with Skollvari heritage are referred to as 'pups' and are considered honorary Skollvar, but the word 'Skollvar' is both the name of the species generally and the title of the highest caste in their society: the passage into adulthood is marked with a challenge called FNORD1, which all with heritage must attempt. Success confers the title of True Skollvar, with failure being treated differently as to how large the failing (they favour allowing opportunities to grow and rise to challenges and multiple attempts may be allowes, though worse performance may result in being forcibly drained of Skollvari genes or eaten)Multiple times in galactic history, the Skollvar have formed vast empires that rose to conquer most of the known universe, only for it to be overthrown and the Skollvar to be hunted to near-extinction, and lick their wounds before boubcing back centuries later. Skolllvar, despite their taste fkr violence and devouring others, tend to be quite amicable and friendly in the right circunstances - they rarely hold other species in contempt or possess hatred for other species, though they can be dismissive to those who truly have nothing to offer in the way of competition/culture/food/being satisfying meals/being satisfying lays.Skollvar are often misunderstood as dumb brutes, but contian within their ranks formiddable intellects - the fact thwy absorb the knowledge and minds of those they devour and that the Skollvar have devoured many highly advanced civilisations means thwy possess in their genetic memory profound understanding of science and the world. Skollvari technology is ofteb organic (their fleshwarping means organic is easier) and they tend to be very private about their technology not falling into alien hands.Skollvar society has specific conceptions of citizenship/being part of the Skollvar species. Children of Skollvar are called 'whelps' or 'Skulax' during childhood, and often placed among the children of other species who raise the whelps as their own. Whelps contain suppressed Skollvari genes, but are not considered Skollvar until they are expressed during sexual matueation.

A 'pup' is the equivalent of a teenager kr young adult, where the suppressed Skollvari heritage begins to reveal itself. It is this point where a Skollvar (either the original parent, a member of their polycule or pack, an associate or similar) steps into the Pups life and works to reintegrate them into Skollvar society. Due to their unique position of their genetics changing as they grow and develop and with the others they devour, Skollvari society does not have the same mores on incest as human society (though, relations between those you grew up with is slightly weird - and the permissiveness of their society is both due to the fact they are immune to inbreeding and the fact that most "parents" do not rear their children during key developmental periods, but arrange for others to care for them in their stead). The Skollvar who serve as teacher and guardian at this point in a Pups life is called a 'Kyrios', but is often addressed in familal terms like Mom, Daddy, Thaddy etc. This relationship is not 1:1 to the human concept of parentage - being that it always has a sexual component, though for the Skollvar sex is an opportunity to socialise and be vulnerable with others, as well as an act that allows the transfer of genetics and to guide their shapechanging. Kyrios can collequally be called Parents, Masters, or Keepers. Indeed, a Kyrios will train a Pup in sex as much as in fighting or morals or science, and each time they have sex the Kyrios will be imparting some of their genetics onto the Pup. For this reason, even when someone ends up with a Kyrios they are completely genetically unrelated to - they will eventually grow a visual similarity to their parent. While the Skollvar do not subacribe to the same ideas of parentage as humans, Skollvar who spawn many whelps who then become Pups who other people then have to train to pas Trenchatage are looked down on for having a weak bloodline - Skollvar who take on many Pups and fails to bring many to pass are also maligned.

It is normal for Pups to be passed between several Kyria early on in their transition to adulthood, often starting with direct parents or their associates and then moving around on the basis of comoatible personalities or interests. A Kyrios is to teach a Pup about how to be a good member of Skollvar society, protect them at a vulnerable time in their life, and handle 'training' for the Pup. Training includes supplying education in many fields the average Skollvar citizen is expected to be a master of, improving the physical fitness of the Pup and ensuring they are exemplary in matters of martial combat, strength, sex and vore. Once a Kyrios is sufficiently happy with the progress of a Pup under their care, they can nominate them for 'The Trenchancy' - a grueling trial of body mind and soul that any Pup must pass to be admitted to the ranks of the 'True Skollvar' adult. The standing of Skollvar is positively affected by the number of Pups they successfully coach through the Trenchrancy, and a Kyrios's role is to be the last arbiter of whether or not a Pup has the makings of a respected member of Skollvari society. Passing the Trenchantage first time is rare, but failing many times bars Pups from progressing to be true Skollvari. Those who are particularly incompatible with the Skollvar would be eaten or absorbed by their Kyrios or the Exam-Masters — more commonly, though, a failed pup is stripped of their name and given the option between being eaten or being converted into a 'Thete'.

A Thete is a modified Skollvari, and are not considered psrt of the same species.Thetes are those who fail to pass their Trenchantagy, are have their name strioped away from them, bodies broken down and reformed by their Kyrios such they possess none of the core traits of the Skollvar. A Thete is considered something equivalent to a pet or a sex-toy, and lack the extreme ohysical potency of capacity to shapeshift that a Skollvar has. Thetes are passed around adult Skollvar - they develop strong attractions to genetically compatibble Skollvar and serve them as servants. A Skollvar is considered more impressive if they have a large harem (called a 'flock') of Thetes. Malicious cruelty to Thetes is offensive to the Skollvar, but otherwise they are treated more as servants or playthings rather than equals. An interesting alien is more likely to be treated favourably to a Skollvar than a random Thete. The way Skollvar treat the Thetes in their flock differs individual to individual - Skollvar who are giftef their birth-children as Thetes are most likely to immediately eat and digest the shameful spawn or treat them as nothing more as an object to torment.

Thetes perform alot of the necessary functions of a society that adult Skollvar do not wish to do, and their brains are rewired to derrive pleasure from working hard and do not properly register pain or anguish. Thetes are regularly altered by their master to serve as genetic libraries for traits their master has absorbed but does not want to use - treating them as equivalent to a wine cellar or closet.

Thetes experience attraction to the idea of being eaten by Skollvar, and prioritise their bonded Skollvar being well-fed over all things. The longer a Thete live the more their body alters to become tastier to their binded Skollvar.

Thetes loose all psionic potential, and alot of the virile potential of Skollvar. Thetes are commonly used as incubators for Whelps that result from an impregnation between two Skollvar - so that the parents can pursue their own ambitions without being limited by pregnancy.

Skollvari pregnancy results in up to a litter of ul to 50 initial whelps, who will in the course of the pregnancy begin to manifest the trait of vore and devour their kin. Most pregancies result in exactly one whelp being spawned, for this reason, and twins or triplets being seen as special and often having extremely advanced psionic potential.

A whelp who makes it to Pup-hood without developing the abillity or inclination to vore others is treated as an absolute genetic failure - though initial aversion to the idea is expectex - and is hunted down and devoured by their parent to deal with the shame.Adult Skollvar usually organise into a web of relationships called a 'pack' which is something between a friendship group and a polycule.Skollvar would be mystified by the human concept of sexuality - sex is something to be shared among the Skollvar, and the idea of favouring any one gender in their attractions is incomprehensible. Skollvar have concelts similar to dom/sub/verse and top/bottom/switch, but would be confused by the idea that thwse are any way linked or that topping is inherently dominant.

Proximity to a full moon causes a minor heat-like spike in libedo, but this is associated with Pups, Thetes and very newly-initated Skollvar - it is incredibly immature for an adult Skollvar to let their lust overwhelm them, even if they are on a planet with eight moons all simultaneously full.Skollvar do not know much about Earth, and humans present such little threat they would be incredibly dismissive of the planet and species at first. However, most Skollvar would be surprised and delighted by the culture and media of the human race - and will be particularly ecstatic at discovering the human internet and the fact subcultures like furries and vore exist.
