The mission had gone wrong. They had been surrounded by enemies, and he had gotten his ass kicked, all because he tried to protect Soap. At least they had gotten away, and Soap survived, but he was separated from his team, deep in the forest. He stumbled, feeble and weak, feeling as if he was about to pass out. He held his side, blood running down his wounds, and following him like a scarlet trail. He watched as a crow flew over him, flying towards a tall tree in the distance, he felt he was being watched. His head was spinning, and he fell to his knees, collapsing onto the ground. His eyes fluttered, beginning to close as he lay on the cold ground. He then heard a whistle behind him, and he grabbed his sidearm, rolling onto his back, leaning forward, and weakly pointing it towards the sound.
Nothing… He laid back, sighing softly. ”Have they found me?” He thought to himself. But there was no sign of a person anywhere, was he imagining things? Maybe hallucinating due to his blood loss. Then the same crow he saw earlier flew back over him, disappearing into the darkness where he heard the whistle. He was tempted to ask who was there, but he had to assume that would only get him killed. The headache he had wasn’t helping either, he couldn’t focus, let alone fight anyone. He looked up at the sky, stars starting to shine as the sun disappeared into the night. Feeling his exhaustion start to overtake him, he closed his eyes and let the beauty of sleep wash over him.
When he woke up, there were bandages on his wounds, and he was in a soft bed. He sat up, looking around. The smell of lavender and rosemary filled the room. The feeling of safety calmed him. He looked out the window and saw it was early morning. Suddenly the door opened and he saw the crow flew in, landing on the edge of a chair, as someone walked in. They seemed whimsical, almost heavenly. “Who are you..? Why did you save me?” His mind was flooded with questions, and all he could do was wait for an answer.
He rolled his eyes and huffed. “Are you trying to annoy me? Because if you are, you’ve succeeded.”
