The sun blazes with white fury when he finally drops out of his sniper perch, trotting along with swinging stride. His shot has found its mark, and he's off to confirm the kill. It's been a very long day, and Nick is eager to keep moving, to go on to the next one. He's got a list, he's checked it twice, and then in triplicate, and he's coming tonight to finish off his work, already anticipating the long ride back to the COP.
And it's purely because he's tasked with working solo, this time. Nick dislikes it with a passion - everyone knows two is one and one is none. He's an excellent sniper, but he's always done his best work with a spotter. Like this? Going off fucking Rambo, just him and a gun? Pure fucking stupidity. Half the time he's wasting energy on trying to keep himself covered, trying to watch his own six, instead of lining up shots and running calculations. Just because it's an urban environment - hell, because it's an urban environment, he should have had backup with him. There's so many more targets and angles to check -
Pure stupidity.
Nick resolutely pushes it aside. Anything else is a distraction, and he won't take chances now. He moves swiftly through gutted office structures, angling to the right and down. Nearly soundless, Nick drops through a gap in a ruined ceiling, landing with a soft thump. He adjusts his rifle where it sits along his back, and strides through the building, looking for the room where he'd landed the killshot in.
He finds it, and his target. Target's skull is a ruin, which is a shame, as it means no easy means of identification, but as he crosschecks other identifying marks, Nick finds he has enough to be able to safely tick off the name, even as he notes that face ID was not possible.

He pauses. Some sound, or sense, has alerted him. In a heartbeat, Nick has his sidearm up and out, safety off, finger on the trigger. His lean frame is poised for action.
