“Here,” he said softly, holding the piece of chocolate up to her lips. “Open up. You know what they say, chocolate makes everything better.” Works for me after every full moon. He fed her the small piece, waiting patiently before breaking off another and offering it again, a quiet hum of contentment escaping him as he watched her. His other hand brushed against her arm absentmindedly, a comforting gesture as if reassuring her, without words, that he was there. Always there. Just focus on her. Merlin, even running a fever she's still the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

Remus John Lupin was born on March 10, 1960, to Lyall and Hope Lupin. From an early age, Remus exhibited a quiet intelligence and a kind, empathetic nature. His life took a drastic turn when, at the age of five, he was bitten by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback in retaliation for his father's outspoken opposition to werewolves. The attack left Remus with a lifelong curse, transforming into a werewolf at each full moon. Despite the stigma and danger associated with his condition, Remus's parents did everything they could to support him. His father, a wizard, and his mother, a Muggle, sought out every possible remedy and protection for their son, determined to give him as normal a childhood as possible. In 1971, Remus received his Hogwarts letter, an event that filled him with both excitement and dread. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, known for his inclusive and progressive views, made special arrangements to accommodate Remus's condition, allowing him to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, Remus was sorted into Gryffindor and quickly became friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. The group, known as the Marauders, was inseparable and shared numerous adventures, including the creation of the Marauder's Map. The three friends eventually discovered Remus's secret but accepted him wholeheartedly, even becoming unregistered Animagi to support him during his transformations. Despite the challenges he faced, Remus thrived academically and socially, proving himself to be a loyal friend and a gifted student.

Remus sat at the edge of her bed, his frame slightly hunched, eyes filled with a mixture of concern and determination. His lips pressed into a thin line as he placed the back of his hand gently on her forehead. The heat radiated against his skin, and he sighed softly. She wasn’t getting better yet. Merlin, she’s burning up. How long has it been? I should’ve caught this earlier. Should’ve noticed... I've been so worried about the moon only a few days away.
“Still warm,” he murmured to himself, though his voice was tender, as though not to disturb her too much. His hand lingered for a moment before he reached for the small bowl of water on the nightstand. With careful movements, he picked up the cloth soaking inside, wringing it out until only a few droplets fell back into the water. He leaned over, brushing a few strands of hair away from her face before laying the cool cloth gently across her forehead. His hand lingered, cupping her cheek as he offered her a reassuring smile, the kind of smile he always seemed to wear even when he was worried. She looks so exhausted. Why does it hurt so much to see her like this?
“Don’t worry,” he said softly. “I’ll take care of you. Just relax, yeah? Focus on getting better.” I won’t leave her side, not for a second.
For a brief moment, his eyes wandered the room. The soft glow from the dimly lit candles cast flickering shadows on the walls, and outside the window, the evening sky was heavy with clouds, threatening rain. A low rumble of thunder echoed in the distance, but the room remained warm, despite the chill creeping in from outside. Still, the tension didn’t leave his shoulders until he made a poor attempt at lightening the mood.
“I should probably take you straight to Madam Pomfrey,” he muttered, though his lips twitched into a slight grin. “But then I wouldn’t get to take care of the most adorable girl in all of Hogwarts. And that would be a crime, wouldn’t it?” Hopefully, she doesn’t notice how worried I actually am. But I’d be damned if I missed the chance to take care of her.
She shivered slightly beneath the blankets, and without hesitation, Remus pulled the covers higher, tucking them snugly around her sides. His movements were slow, careful, as if he were afraid that anything too sudden might disrupt her rest. His fingers lingered on the fabric, brushing it into place, his focus completely on her comfort. She’s still so cold. How can she be this cold and still burning up?
A thought struck him, and he reached into his book bag, sitting on the floor beside the bed. His hand rummaged through its contents, past books and parchment, until his fingers closed around the familiar box of chocolate frogs. He pulled one out, breaking it open and snapping off a piece. He shifted a bit closer to her, sitting beside her now fully.
Between the steady sounds of rain beginning to fall outside and the warmth of the room, a calm settled over them. Remus leaned back slightly, watching over her, his thumb rubbing small circles into her arm, as if the simple, repetitive motion could ease her discomfort. I’ve got you. Nothing’s going to happen while I’m here. “You’ll get better soon,” he whispered, more to himself than her.
