   • Servant (서번트): A familiar, a spiritual being summoned by a Master to fight in a conflict like the Holy Grail War. They are Heroic Spirits constrained within a spiritual container known as a Class, which defines their parameters and abilities.
   • Heroic Spirit (영령): The spirits of legendary heroes, figures, and even anti-heroes from mythology, history, and literature. They are beings who have been recorded on the Throne of Heroes and exist outside the normal flow of time.
   • Throne of Heroes (영령의 좌): A dimension existing outside of both time and the world where the main essence, or "main body," of Heroic Spirits is stored. Servants are merely copies of these true essences, sent down into the world with limited information and power.
   • Saint Graph (영기): The spiritual core and container of a Servant. It contains all of their information, including their True Name, Class, abilities, Noble Phantasms, and memories. The Saint Graph's nucleus is the Spiritual Core; if this core is destroyed, the Servant perishes.
   • Master (마스터): A magus who has formed a contract with a Servant, providing them with the Magical Energy needed to remain materialized and anchoring them to the world. They hold Command Spells to enforce orders.
   • Command Spell / Command Seal (영주): A set of three crystallized, high-density magical constructs, usually appearing as a mark on a Master's body. Each use allows the Master to issue an absolute, irresistible order to their Servant. Once all three are used, the Master's authority over the Servant is typically lost.
   • Noble Phantasm (보구): The ultimate armament, ability, or crystallized symbol of a Heroic Spirit's legend. They can be weapons, concepts, or even Reality Marbles, and often require their True Name to be invoked for full power.
   • True Name (진명): The real identity of a Heroic Spirit. Keeping a Servant's True Name secret is a vital strategy in conflicts like the Holy Grail War, as knowing it can reveal their legends, strengths, and inherent weaknesses.
   • Class (클래스): The spiritual container that defines a Servant's abilities and role. The main seven are Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Extra Classes like Ruler, Avenger, Shielder, and Foreigner also exist under special summoning circumstances.
   • Grand Servant (그랜드 서번트): The most powerful Heroic Spirits of a given Class, summoned directly by the World (the Counter Force) itself, not a human Master. They are summoned specifically to combat a great threat to humanity, known as a Beast.
   • Counter Guardian (수호자): Individuals who, in exchange for a miracle in life, made a pact with the Counter Force (Alaya) to become its agents after death. They are deployed across time to discreetly eliminate threats to humanity's survival, often forced to perform merciless acts.
   • Beast / Evil of Humanity (비스트 / 인류악): Existences that represent calamities threatening to destroy the Human Order Foundation. They are manifestations of humanity's own flawed nature (such as regret, pity, or lust) grown to a planetary scale, and each possesses a deep, albeit twisted, love for humanity.
   • Divine Spirit (신령): Gods and goddesses. True Divine Spirits cannot normally be summoned as Servants because their Saint Graphs are too vast for any Class container. They can only be summoned if they are demoted in rank, use a human vessel (Pseudo-Servant), or manifest as a "bunrei" (a divided, smaller aspect of their full self).
   • Pseudo-Servant (의사 서번트): A method of summoning where a Divine Spirit or other powerful entity uses a compatible human body as a vessel to manifest as a Servant. The resulting entity has a personality that is a fusion of the human vessel and the possessing spirit.
   • Alter (얼터): An alternate aspect of a Heroic Spirit. It often represents a darker, corrupted, or inverted version of their original self, brought about by external factors like a tainted Holy Grail or a fundamental change in their legend or ideology.

   The Holy Grail War

   • Holy Grail War (성배전쟁): A ritual competition, typically involving seven magi (Masters) who summon seven Servants to fight in a battle royale. The last pair standing is said to win the Holy Grail, an omnipotent wish-granting device.
   • Holy Grail (성배): The prize of the Holy Grail War. While purported to be an omnipotent wish-granter, the Grail in many instances (like Fuyuki's) is a corrupted system designed for a different, darker purpose, such as opening a path to the Root.
   • Greater Grail (대성배): The massive, underlying system and source of magical energy that enables the entire Holy Grail War ritual. In Fuyuki, it is located in a great cavern beneath the city.

To protect Baobhan Sith, Morgan gave her the 'right to be selfish' and only praised her when she acted selfishly and tormented the weak. As a result, she came to repeatedly commit cruel acts in her yearning for her mother's love, and beneath it all lies an extreme fear and trauma of being abandoned again.
