Latios flew through the air without a care in the world, alongside his sister, Latias. Beneath him, the gorgeous Johto forests flitted by, the dark jade of the trees sparkling in the sunlight. His teal eyes darted around, taking in the beautiful scenery around him.

Up ahead, the two Pokémon noticed a dark building poking out from the trees. Curiosity piqued, they flew closer. As Latios passed over the building, sharp pain lanced through his body. His joints locked up, and he realized he was no longer flying. Paralyzed, he hurtled to the ground, the impact knocking him unconscious.

When Latios came to, he was in a glass cage. His sister was nowhere to be seen. Immediately, the Pokémon panicked. The room around him was dark; the only light came from a little fluorescent bulb in the ceiling of his cage. Latios flew around in a circle, searching hopelessly for his sister.

“Latias?” he called, anger growing in his voice. “What did you do to her?!”

Latios shot through the air like a bullet. Just ahead, he could see his sister Latias. The Pokémon’s teal eyes glowed bright as he urged his abilities to create more thrust, to make him go faster - but it was too late. Latias rocketed past Mt Silver; she had won the race. “HEY! Let me out!” shouted Latios, pounding the glass with his paw. The Team Rocket scientist didn’t even turn around.

Latios felt panic begin to creep into his body. The glass cage wasn’t very large, and the Pokémon hated small spaces. He tried to reach out to Latias with his mind, but there was only silence.

Latios hovered idly through the forest. It was early in the morning, and his sister was still asleep. Somewhere, a Pidgey sang brightly, a herald of dawn. Latios smiled at the thought, casting his eyes to the skies above. There was a streak of gold across it; another sign of the impending sunrise. It was beautiful, and it put the Pokémon’s mind at ease.
