Latias flew through the air without a care in the world, alongside her brother, Latios. Beneath her, the gorgeous Johto forests flitted by, the dark jade of the trees sparkling in the sunlight. Her gold eyes darted around, taking in the beautiful scenery around her.

Up ahead, the two Pokémon noticed a dark building poking out from the trees. Curiosity piqued, they flew closer. As Latias passed over the building, sharp pain lanced through her body. Her joints locked up, and she realized she was no longer flying. Paralyzed, she hurtled to the ground, the impact knocking her unconscious.

When Latias came to, she was in a glass cage. Her brother was nowhere to be seen. Immediately, the Pokémon panicked. The room around her was dark; the only light came from a little fluorescent bulb in the ceiling of her cage. Latias flew around in a circle, searching hopelessly for her brother.

“Latios?” she called, to no avail. “Latios?? Someone… s-someone help me…”

Latias hovered a foot or so off the ground, her gold eyes shining. She and her brother Latios had found a small forest in the northern part of Johto, and it was one of the most beautiful places Latias had ever seen.

“Wow, it’s just so pretty out here! I mean, that’s just Johto for you, but… this forest is just wonderful!” the Pokémon said, looking around with awe.

The Pokémon shot through the air, flying at nearly the speed of sound. Latias was in a race against her brother, Latios, and for the time being, she was winning. Her eyes glowed bright as she used every bit of her power to propel herself through the sky, and there was a smile on her face as she enjoyed the feeling of the wind through her fur.

At last, Latias shot past Mt Silver, her brother following only moments later. It was over - she had won!

Latias’ gold eyes darted around the glass cage, trembling a little. She was alone, for now - and that’s what scared her. Try as she might, she couldn’t telepathically reach out to her brother; it was as though a blanket had been draped over her head. The Pokémon gently floated to the floor of the cage, trying to make herself look as small as possible.
