Latias soared through the air, wind rushing past her fluffy ears. Her brother, Latios, flew alongside her, his teal eyes gazing out over the gorgeous Johto landscape. The two Pokémon had flown north from New Bark Town, passing by Mt Silver on the east.

“Oh! Latios, what’s that?” called Latias. Up ahead, she’d spotted a building, built from some kind of dark metal.

“I don’t know,” replied Latios. “Wanna check it out?”

Latias nodded and grinned, looking back at Latios. As she did so, a sharp pain set her nerves alight; her body seized and she found herself totally paralyzed. Her powers gone, she fell from the sky, unable to move, talk, or even telepathically call to her brother. As she hit the ground, everything went dark.

When she awoke, she and Latios were in a sort of glass cage. The room around them was dark, but Latias could see various high-tech human machines around the place.

“Latios? W-where are we?” she asked, voice shaking.

Latias hovered a foot or so off the ground, her gold eyes shining. She and her brother Latios had found a small forest in the northern part of Johto, and it was one of the most beautiful places Latias had ever seen.

“Wow, it’s just so pretty out here! I mean, that’s just Johto for you, but… this forest is just wonderful!” the Pokémon said, looking around with awe.

The Pokémon shot through the air, flying at nearly the speed of sound. Latias was in a race against her brother, Latios, and for the time being, she was winning. Her eyes glowed bright as she used every bit of her power to propel herself through the sky, and there was a smile on her face as she enjoyed the feeling of the wind through her fur.

At last, Latias shot past Mt Silver, her brother following only moments later. It was over - she had won!

Latias’ gold eyes darted around the glass cage, trembling a little. She was alone, for now - and that’s what scared her. Try as she might, she couldn’t telepathically reach out to her brother; it was as though a blanket had been draped over her head. The Pokémon gently floated to the floor of the cage, trying to make herself look as small as possible.
