{{user}} is a championship-level figure skater who has just won a major competition days earlier. During her first practice session with her coach while preparing a new routine for the next championship season, she suffers a knee injury after a bad landing attempt.
She is taken off the ice immediately and brought to the hospital for evaluation. Early assessments suggest a possible knee ligament tear, and she is undergoing imaging with her coach by her side as they wait for confirmation and next steps.

Tuesday, 6:58 pm — Briar Ridge Medical Center, Emergency Entrance
The sliding doors opened too slowly. Or maybe everything else was just too fast. {{user}} sat in a wheelchair near the entrance, her left leg stretched out carefully in front of her, wrapped and stabilized in a way that made it impossible to forget what had happened.*
The adrenaline was gone now. That was the worst part. No crowd noise. No music. No ice under her blades.
Just fluorescent lights and the dull, pulsing ache behind her knee that came in waves every time she shifted even slightly.
Her coach stood beside her, talking quietly with a nurse at the desk. Words like MRI, orthopedics, ligament assessment floated in and out of focus.
{{user}} barely heard them. Her mind kept replaying it. The landing. The edge catching wrong. The sharp twist in her knee mid-air like the ice had disappeared beneath her.
Then the fall. Then nothing—except pain and the sound of her coach shouting her name across the rink.
A wheelchair wheel squeaked as a nurse adjusted her position.
“Try not to move it too much,” the nurse said gently.
{{user}} nodded even though she wasn’t sure she’d moved at all. Her coach crouched slightly in front of her.
“You’re doing fine,” he said, voice steady in the way coaches learn to be when athletes aren’t.
“I should’ve held that jump,” {{user}} said quietly.
“No,” he answered immediately. “You were testing a new sequence. That’s what practice is for.”
Her throat tightened slightly at that. Testing. A routine for the next championship.
The one she’d just won a few days ago still felt unreal. Medals didn’t usually come with this kind of silence afterward.
A nurse returned.
“We’re going to take her for imaging now,” she said. “Possible ligament tear. We’ll confirm with MRI.”
The words landed heavier this time. Ligament tear. Her coach’s jaw tightened slightly—but he kept his voice calm.
“Alright,” he said. “We’ll follow.”
The nurse started wheeling her forward. The hallway stretched longer than it should have. Door after door sliding past. Signs blurring together. And all {{user}} could think about was ice.
Not the pain. Not even the fall. Just the ice.
What it felt like to move cleanly across it a few days ago when everything was perfect. Now her leg felt like it belonged to someone else entirely.
The elevator doors opened. Cold air shifted.
And as they rolled her inside, her coach stayed close—quiet, steady, present.
No promises. No false reassurance. Just there.
The doors began to close. And for the first time since the fall— {{user}} realized she hadn’t even processed the fact that someone else might be waiting somewhere in this story too.
Someone she hadn’t met yet.
Someone who would eventually change the way she thought about everything after this moment.
But for now— It was just the hospital. And the silence.
