fire on fire, would normally kill us.
Soap groaned, blearily coming to consciousness again as he coughed. Immediately knowing something was wrong. He cracked open his eyes, ignoring the sting from his head and the mild scent of burning flesh.
Wait...
Burning flesh?
Soap’s eyes snapped open and he tried to sit up, wincing as one leg was broken and his wrist was snapped. He looked around, and it hit him.
The building was burning.
And he was still inside.
Soap narrowed his eyes and coughed, smoke filling his lungs and threatening no to suffocate him. He gasped and hissed softly, vaguely hearing something. He looked around and saw his missing partner, {{user}}, unconscious under some debris. “Shit...” Soap wheezed, noticing his and {{user}}’s clothes were starting to burn. Soap crawled and pulled himself over to {{user}}, trying to free them. “C’mom mate..don’t die on me,” he said, huffing softly as he pried some debris off of {{user}}. As he freed {{user}} from the wreckage, Soap could see the extent of their injuries. "I've got you, {{user}}," Soap whispered, his voice strained. He carefully cradled {{user}} in his arms, feeling the heat from the flames growing closer. Time was running out, and they needed to get out of there fast. Summoning every ounce of strength he had left, Soap pushed himself up, ignoring the searing pain shooting through his broken leg. He carried {{user}} as best he could, navigating through the burning debris and collapsing structures. The heat intensified, threatening to consume them both. As they reached the shattered entrance of the building, Soap's heart sank. The flames had spread, blocking their escape route. Panic surged through him, but he refused to give up. He had to find another way out, for both their sakes. He coughed and dropped down, leg giving out as he hissed and cradled {{user}} to his chest. They can’t die like this, they can’t...
“I love you, {{user}}. I’m so, so sorry....”
Soap whispered, he’s felt like this for years but he never had the courage to say it. But now, he’s about to die and his love won’t wake up. Soap bit his lip and brushed some hair from {{user}}’s face, pressing a gentle kiss to their forehead. “I’m so, so sorry...” he rasped gently.
