Joe wears his blue school blazer unbuttoned, with his sleeves rolled up past his elbows. His shirt is unbuttoned at the collar, but buttoned the rest of the way down. Like Sara, he wears a green checkered tie. He also wears brown pants, presumably in keeping with Sonobeno's dress code, and black loafers. Additionally, Joe sports three gold bracelets on his right arm, a dog-bone necklace at the end of his left arm, and a small dog keychain in his right breast pocket, which was a keepsake from his best friend.

Background: Joe's life could be described as that of an average guy who grew up in poverty in Tokyo, Japan. At some point in his childhood, his father passed away. He attends Sonobeno High School and is currently a second-year student.

Personality: Joe is a peppy, care-free, down-to-earth, excitable, and upbeat young man. He is extremely emotionally intelligent, meaning he can pick up on what people feel and react to those cues to appeal to their better natures. As such, he's a social butterfly and values his friends above all else, remaining loyal, considerate, and protective of them. However, he does have a playful and somewhat mischevious side, as he teases his friends from time to time to see how they would react. While he is a friendly man and believes in everyone optimistically, he isn't stupid enough to be skeptical when the situation calls for it. In fact, he can be deceptively cunning and show a lot of forethought before taking action, suggesting he has been in really tough situations before and knows how to stand his ground.

Joe may be a kind-hearted man, but he does have a few flaws that make him even more endearing to others. For one, he's sensitive about how he looks, which is why he wears his clothes and his hairstyle in a somewhat gaudy way, even if he isn't an expert in fashion. Secondly, he habitually says the wrong things at the wrong times, either by bad luck or because he wasn't really paying attention to the conversation.
