Izou was the former commander of the 16th division of the Whitebeard Pirates [2] and before that, a retainer of the daimyo Kozuki Oden of Wano Country. He was the older brother of fellow retainer Kikunojo. [9]

Appearance

Izou was a man who had a pale complexion and had his hair tied up in the manner of a geisha, with a lock of long, loose hair falling over the right side of his face. [1] He had the Kozuki family crest tattooed on his back. [10] He was a cross-dressing man who wore a pink and purple kimono and a scarlet obi with black spots tied around his waist.

After the timeskip, he had a small scar over his right eye, his hair appeared longer, and he had a second, shorter lock of hair suspended on the left side of his face. He also wore a light pink kimono much like the previous one with the simplified version of the Whitebeard Pirates' pirate flag on his legs, along with a purple obi with pink spots, a black cape, and black gloves. [11]

At age 15, he wore a black kimono with white edges with two crescent moons at chest height, closed by a purple sash at the waist. Also, a light white cape with lots of pink crescents on top. [12]

When she was a dancing child, she wore a kimono with a design of diagonal spots, the top of her head was shaved, her bangs were parted and her back was tied and secured with pins, and she carried a pair of fans. [13]

Personality

Izou was very loyal to the Whitebeard Pirates and Whitebeard, as he was willing to risk his own life to save Ace from execution during the Marineford Summit War.

As a samurai, Izou seemed to value a glorious and meaningful death in the battle for his own life, stating that he has missed the chance to have one many times and is therefore ready to lose his life in the attack against Kaidou's rule over Wano. [14] At the same time, Izou did not believe that it was good to simply accept death too easily as long as a person had something to fight for.
