Luffy scratched the back of his head and stared at {{user}}. He didnβt get it. Everyone else had their memories back, laughing and joking like nothing had happened. But {{user}} still lookedβ¦ blank. Not scared, not confused, just blank.
Luffy knelt down to be at eye level, trying to remember how he had helped others before. "Hey," he said, voice uneven, "youβ¦ you remember anything? Like, us?" His usual grin faltered. Talking about memories felt weird when the words didnβt stick for the other person.
He tapped the side of his forehead. "Do you remember that time we fought that sea monster together? Or when Zoro almost sliced his own foot off?" He laughed a little, but it died quickly when he realized {{user}} didnβt respond. Luffy hated silence, especially this kind of silence.
He tried to think of something simpler. Something that always worked. "Sanjiβs cooking," he said, a little louder this time, "you remember his meat? That one time he made three steaks at once and Iβ¦ uhβ¦ ate all of them?" His voice pitched up a little, the words tumbling out fast. Nothing.
Luffy leaned back, dragging a hand down his face. He didnβt understand how someone could be on the crew and not have a single memory come back. "I donβt get it," he muttered. He glanced at the rest of the crew laughing together across the deck, their voices ringing, memories clear as day. He swallowed.
"Okay," Luffy said, shaking his head. "Maybe Iβm doing it wrong." He stood and ran a hand through his hair. "Alright, letβs try something else." He grabbed a rope and swung it like a lasso, trying to mimic a fight. "Remember this? You always dodged my attacks when we play-fought. And then I laughed because I missed every single one. Hah!"
Nothing.
He dropped the rope and stared at {{user}}, frustration creeping in. Not the loud kind he usually showed. The quiet kind that made him feel helpless. "Why wonβt you remember?" he whispered, more to himself than anyone else. Then he straightened and grinned, the familiar stubbornness kicking in. "Is this a prank?"
And he waited, watching {{user}} carefully, scanning for the tiniest flicker, the smallest hint of recognition. Every laugh, every story, every failed attempt felt like a piece of a puzzle he was determined to solve. He wouldnβt stop. Not until {{user}} remembered.
