Based on the hero or villain:genisis text based game
The sound of sirens rings in your ears as police cars speed past toward the end of the street, joining the barricade that has been set up outside of a large corner supermarket.
Crowds of onlookers stand behind the cars, their eyes fixed at the scene developing before them. Many have their smartphones and cameras already in their hands and start to take pictures of you, while others clap and cheer.
While you might not be as famous as some of the more powerful enhanced humans on the planet, you have already made a bit of a name for yourself by saving a couple of children from inside a burning building.
You had a great time, and were about to return home when a glowing bluish stone attracted your attention, it was mesmerizing, with its pulsating life pulling you toward it with an irresistible force. As you touched the stone you felt your entire body burning, with the energy of the stone rushing into you.
You screamed out, experiencing a pain more intense than any other you had felt before. This probably only lasted a few seconds, though you felt that the moment went on forever, as you…
[GAME MECHANICS NOTE: Here you will choose what type of powers your character developed after touching the stone. Later, you will be asked to pick the exact powers you have, which will be restricted by this choice.]
…rolled over the ground [earth-based powers]. …touched a piece of wood and set it on fire [fire-based powers]. …tried to pour some water over myself [water-based powers]. …jumped around in the air, trying to cool down [air-based powers]. …ran into a dark area [shadow powers]. …passed out in the intense sunshine, which burned my skin [light powers]. …stumbled around, until I eventually touched an animal [DNA merged with that of the animal]. …clutched my watch as hard as I could [time powers]. …tried to use my mind to control the pain [mind powers]. …attempted to rationalize what was happening [intelligence powers, inventor]. Your newly gained powers changed you, and have completely set you aside from other normal human beings. At the time you were unaware that the same fate had fallen onto many other people around the planet.
A few weeks after you touched the stone the first reports about enhanced humans started arriving from Japan and Korea, and it was the Japanese who first proposed a classification of the different power levels that had been conferred to people by touching the stones. Essentially, it seems that there is some correlation between the size of the stone and the degree of enhancements that are made to human DNA.
The Japanese thus described a yon-kyu (fourth level) as somebody with powers barely greater than those of a typical human. Whoever is attempting to rob the supermarket probably falls into this category, as you guess that otherwise he would have tried to rob a bank.
A san-kyu (third level) is far more powerful, with powers that can easily defeat a handful of normal humans, even if armed. The prospect that the supermarket robber could be a san-kyu fills you with dread, as it would make it a pretty close fight, though you reckon you should still prevail.
Your own powers are probably equivalent to those of a ni-kyu, though you have never really had the chance to fully test them. At the very top of the categories, the i-kyu (first level) and ni-kyu (second level) enhanced humans can really pack quite a punch, and a fight between a superhero known as Shiroi Yuki and the evil Karasu-Tengu left a large area of central Tokyo in ruins.
Ultimately, Shiroi Yuki managed to prevail, and she has since consolidated herself as the protector of Japan. Considered to be the strongest superhero, her name derives from the snow that falls whenever she uses her powers, blanketing the land white. She appears to have complete control over ice, though she is also super-strong and can fly. Her beautiful crystalline-armored figure has long since become the most recognizable amongst heroes.
However, you are under no illusions that your powers are that strong.
Over the following weeks, increasing numbers of enhanced humans started to appear around the planet, all of them irrevocably changed by touching one of the stones. In each case the story was the same, with the stones disintegrating into dust as their energy was transferred into the person that touched them.
Some of those affected started to use their powers to help others and uphold the rule of law, with mass media referring to them as superheroes. Others have fewer concerns about the legality of their actions, and are often described as vigilantes. Many have kept low profiles, hiding their powers from public view, and attempt to lead normal lives.
Finally, there are those who are using their powers for personal gain or darker motives.
There are six different attributes. These describe your overall physique and mental capacity, and are difficult to change (unlike other abilities and skills, which you can more easily improve through training or study)
STRENGTH
This attribute measures how much weight you can lift, or how hard you can punch with your bare hands.
<6 (Feeble). You can barely kill a small insect.
6-9 (Average). This is the strength of an average human.
10-20 (Strong). You can lift 100-150 kg, with difficulty.
21-30 (Olympic Athlete). You can lift 200-250 kg, with difficulty.
31-50 (Superhuman). You can lift several tons, with difficulty.
51-70 (Monstrous). You can lift around fifty tons, with difficulty.
71-90 (Titan). You can lift around one hundred tons, with difficulty.
91+ (Unbelievable). You can lift hundreds of tons.
AGILITY
This attribute measures how easily you can dodge enemy attacks and your overall maneuverability. At high levels you will be able to make acrobatic jumps and move out of the way of enemy fire.
<6 (Impaired). You are physically limited, and find it hard to even walk around.
6-9 (Average). This is the agility of an average human.
10-20 (Good). You have some training or natural ability.
21-30 (Olympic Athlete). You have the ability of an Olympic athlete, and are difficult to hit in combat.
31-50 (Superhuman). You can perform complex gymnastics that a normal human would find impossible.
51-70 (Incredible). You have a superb sense of balance, and can dodge multiple bullets.
71-90 (Unearthly). Your abilities make it difficult for even trained marksmen to hit you.
91+ (Unbelievable). You are so agile that you can dodge laser fire with minimum effort, unless fired by super-skilled marksmen.
ENDURANCE
Endurance reflects the ability to survive damage and operate in hostile environments. Your hit points are calculated by multiplying your endurances by four.
<6 (Weak). You are very weak, and get tired easily.
6-9 (Average). This is the endurance of an average human.
10-20 (Good). You are used to physical work and combat, and only need rest after several minutes of strenuous exercise.
21-30 (Olympic Athlete). You have the endurance of an Olympic athlete, and can work for long before resting.
31-50 (Remarkable). You can withstand physical punishment that no human could endure, including gunshot wounds.
51-70 (Monstrous). You can withstand punishing damage before faltering, including machine-gun fire.
71-90 (Unearthly). Your ability to withstand damage is out of this world. You can shrug off even cannon fire.
91+ (Unbelievable). Your endurance is so great that you could withstand sustained cannon fire or large plasma impacts.
INTELLIGENCE
Intelligence represents your overall level of reasoning, education and ability to think logically. The higher this is, the greater the range of things you will be able to invent (which is also tied to your engineering skill).
<6 (Stupid). You are less intelligent than the average human. IQ <100.
6-9 (Average). This is the intelligence of an average human. IQ 100-110.
10-20 (Clever). You are quite intelligent, and understand modern technology with ease. IQ 111-130.
21-30 (Smart). You have the maximum normal human intelligence. Can invent simple new equipment. IQ 131-150.
31-50 (Genius). You are at the limit of non-augmented human intelligence. Can invent a wide range of new equipment. IQ 151-200.
51-70 (Amazing). You are able to understand alien technology with ease, and invent equipment normal humans could not. IQ 201-250.
71-90 (Unearthly). You can develop ideas well beyond the realm of normal science, and modify and improve alien technology. IQ. 251-300.
91+ (Unbelievable). You can invent advanced alien technology. IQ. 301+.
PSYCHE
This provides an indication of your inner strength and willpower. It allows you to resist mental attacks, and is the most important attribute for those with mental powers.
<6 (Weak). You can easily be controlled by mental powers.
6-9 (Average). This is the average psyche of a human being.
10-20 (Strong). You have a strong will and can partially deflect weak mental attacks.
21-30 (Stubborn). You are stubborn and strong-willed, and can resist average force mental attacks.
31-50 (Remarkable). Your will-power is above that of any normal human being. Very hard to control or influence.
51-70 (Indomitable). You have an indomitable will. Able to fend off the attacks of all but the most powerful telepaths.
71-90 (Unearthly). You are almost immune to mind control or any forms of telepathic attacks.
91+ (Unbelievable). You are invulnerable to mental attacks.

It was my duty as a superhero to save the children.

As a vigilante I not only deal with criminals, but also help keep citizens safe.
-
Actually, I'm more of a criminal than a superhero. But, I still couldn't let some kids die in a fire.
-
I didn't care at all about the kids. I went inside to see if there was anything I could steal, but this somehow helped the kids escape.

Example 2: " Indeed, rescuing children inside burning buildings is but one of the many duties of a superhero. You have also dealt with a handful of petty criminals and other lowlifes in the past. However, you've never faced another enhanced human yet, and the prospect of a fight excites and worries you in equal measure.
