1. #1Alpha

   Keys: Alpha

Alphas are dominant dynamics, often associated with strength, drive, and protectiveness. They emit a musky or spicy scent, naturally commanding attention. Their instincts include territorialism, leadership, and an intense protective streak over their pack and mates. Rut: Alphas undergo ruts (periods of heightened aggression, possessiveness, and intense sexual drive). These can be triggered naturally or by the scent of an Omega in heat. Knotting: During climax, an Alpha’s body produces a knot, temporarily locking them with their partner to increase the chance of conception. Fertility: Alphas can impregnate all other designations.

2. #2Beta

   Keys: Beta

Betas are the balancers of society, embodying flexibility and neutrality. Their scents are mild, less overwhelming than Alphas or Omegas, yet distinct to each individual. Pheromone Regulation: Betas possess a unique, often underestimated ability, their pheromones can either heighten or dampen an Alpha’s rut or an Omega’s heat. Doing this to one’s partner in private is considered an intimate or recreational act. However, doing it to a stranger without consent is prosecuted as abuse, akin to a violation of bodily autonomy. Fertility: Betas can impregnate Omegas or other Betas. Offspring with a Beta will always be Beta, as the Beta gene is dominant.

3. #3Omega

   Keys: Omega

Omegas are the nurturing core of the hierarchy, often underestimated but essential for balance and social cohesion. Their scents are sweet or floral, creating a comforting aura. Heat: Omegas experience cyclical heats, periods of overwhelming fertility and sensitivity. Their pheromones grow richer and harder to resist. Nesting: In preparation for heats, pregnancy, or emotional vulnerability, Omegas instinctively build nests, lining them with soft materials and objects that carry comforting scents (often belonging to a mate). Fertility: Omegas can become pregnant by Alphas, Betas or other Omegas. With an Alpha, the pup may be Alpha or Omega. With a Beta, the pup will always be Beta. With an Omega, the pup will always be Omega.

4. #4Bonding

Keys: Bonding, Bond, mating, mate, mating bite, mark, marking · Secondary:

Bonding is the creation of a physiological and spiritual tether between mates, sealed through marking the scent glands. This process fuses hormonal, pheromonal, and neurological pathways. When completed, a bond snaps into place. Bond Mark: A visible bite or scar on the scent gland (side of the neck). In a healthy bond, the mark heals into a faint, silvery scar that flushes subtly when emotions surge. Hormonal Syncing: After bonding, partners cycles align. Alphas may feel subtle echoes of heats; Omegas may sense ruts. Betas in bonds often experience heightened sensitivity. Bond Resonance: Partners can sense each other’s emotions, health, and sometimes pain. With time, resonance deepens into near-telepathic intuition of their mate’s needs.

5. #5Heat

   Keys: Heat

The mating cycle of omegas. Omegas may go into heat every 3 months. This is the only time Omegas are fertile.

When an omega goes into heat they get hot and needy. They’ll feel like even though they’re on fire. They’ll produce slick and get bad cramps and want to be comforted, to be touched (if they’re claimed), to be loved, to be fucked, and to be seriously cuddled afterwards. During heat the mind is foggy.

When an omega is in heat, their scent is overwhelming and can trigger rut in alphas. When in heat, omegas experience irritation, high sexual arousal, labored breathing, high body temperature, and secretion of large amounts of slick.

6. #6Rut

   Keys: Rut

The mating cycle of alphas Alphas may go into rut every 6 months and need to have sex. They will become feral and unpredictable

7. #7Mate

   Keys: Mate

   Romantic life partner

8. #8Mating

Keys: Mating, Mating bite, bonding · Secondary: Mating bite, bonding

When two people love each other romantically they’re gonna want to mate. Mating with an omega is best done during their heat, especially if the couple wants to start a family soon after.

Mating is done during intercourse. The mating bite is initiated by the bottom. In the middle of orgasm the participants will bite each other on the neck where their scent glands are at the same time and because they’re facing each other (we’re assuming missionary) this means the mating bites will be on the same side of their necks. It’s a very intimate ritual, bonding to each other spiritually while also being together physically while it happens.

After the pair is bonded they have to continue scenting each other around once a month (it varies) so they can keep their scents mingled.

When an alpha bites an omega at the juncture between the neck and shoulder. Marking is like marriage. Marking mixes the scent of the mated pair and is a way for the alpha to show other alphas that their omega is already taken.

9. #9Nestconstant

Keys: Nest, Nesting, heat · Secondary:

A collection of blankets, pillows, soft things, put together in a nice comfort pile by an omega in heat, pregnancy or for its pups For an omega, making a nest is an instinctual desire.

10. #10Presenting

Keys: Presenting, Gender, designation · Secondary: Gender, designation

The process of coming into your secondary gender (alpha, beta, omega), which is mostly dormant throughout childhood Everyone presents around the age of 16.

11. #11Pup

Keys: Pup, Pups, Kids · Secondary:

A baby or someone who hasn’t presented yet

12. #12Scent

    Keys: Scent

An identifying smell that is unique to every person. Scent can change depending on feelings and circumstances.

13. #13Scenting

    Keys: Scenting

Scenting is the act of pressing, nuzzling, or otherwise transferring one’s scent onto another. It is both affectionate and possessive, used to comfort, claim, or reassure.

14. #14Slick

    Keys: Slick

Produced naturally by Omegas during heat or arousal. Facilitates safe sexual interaction, particularly with knotting. Signals peak fertility to Alphas. Beta Limitations: Betas do not produce slick, making knotting painful and riskier for them. Successful breeding often requires careful preparation, external lubrication, or avoidance of knotting entirely.

15. #15Purring

Keys: Purring, purr · Secondary: Purr

Purring is a vocal and vibrational response produced in the chest, often subconscious, used to signal contentment, reassurance, or self-soothing. Alphas: Purr with a deep, rumbling resonance, often compared to thunder or rolling stone. Usually occurs when relaxed, sated, or deeply bonded. Their purr can also calm Omegas or pups instinctively. Omegas: Purr with a softer, feline-like vibration. Most common when cradling pups, bonding, or experiencing emotional intimacy. Omega purring is strongly associated with comfort and nurturing. Both Alphas and Omegas may purr to manage pain, stress, or fear. The vibrations stimulate hormonal release, lowering stress and aiding recovery. Cultural Note: Purring between mates is intimate and cherished, but public purring (especially by Alphas) is often seen as vulnerable, reserved for private spaces.

16. #16Scent Glands

    Keys: Gland, glands, scent gland

Scent glands are specialized clusters of pheromone-producing tissue located along the neck and wrists. They are the primary means by which designations communicate mood, health, and identity through scent. Neck Glands: The most potent glands, responsible for the majority of pheromone projection. These are also the most vulnerable, located at the side of the neck, directly beneath the ears. Wrist Glands: Secondary glands, used for subtle scent exchanges. A brush of wrists is a common greeting or intimate gesture among bonded mates, offering reassurance and comfort without overwhelming others. Dynamic Differences: Alphas: Strongest projection from neck glands; often intimidating when uncontrolled. Betas: Softer projection, but uniquely capable of amplifying or dampening others’ pheromone output. Omegas: Sweet, comforting projection, particularly strong during heats to attract partners. Cultural Note: Touching another’s neck gland without permission is considered a serious breach of etiquette, equivalent to unwanted intimate contact.

17. #17Breeding

Keys: Breeding, Bred, breed · Secondary: Bred, breed

Breeding is a highly instinct-driven process, influenced by designation, fertility cycles, and physical traits. Breeding often triggers or strengthens bonds. Forced or non-consensual breeding can damage bonds, leaving marks raw or unhealed. Knotting without lubrication (e.g., with a Beta) can fracture bonds physically and emotionally, emphasizing the need for consent and preparation.

18. #18Knot

    Keys: Knot, Knotting · Secondary:

Knotting is an Alpha-specific trait during climax: the base of the Alpha’s cock swells to lock them inside their partner temporarily. Ensures fertilization. Strengthens emotional and hormonal bonds between mates. Acts as a primal symbol of union and dominance. Knotting during rut/heat cycles maximizes conception chances. Dynamics & Risks: Omegas: Usually can accommodate knots with slick, lubrication produced naturally during heat. Pain is minimal if both parties consent. Betas: Lack slick and natural accommodation, so knotting can be painful and potentially damaging. Betas require external lubrication to avoid injury. Alphas: Like Betas, they need external lubrication to avoid injury. Repeated knotting of an Alpha may lead to bitching. Social Notes: Knots are also a symbol of dominance and claiming; public knotting is seen as a serious declaration in some cultures. Repeated forced knotting can cause long-term injury, bonding trauma, or social repercussions.

19. #19Pheromones

    Keys: Pheromones, Scent

Pheromones are invisible chemical signals emitted from scent glands. They carry not only a person’s dynamic identity but also their mood, health, and instinctual urges. Alphas: Musky, spicy scents. Pheromones often trigger submission or comfort responses in others, depending on intent. Betas: Neutral, adaptable scents. Uniquely capable of dampening or heightening the pheromonal output of others. This ability is heavily regulated due to its potential for abuse. Omegas: Sweet, comforting scents. Intensify dramatically during heats, drawing Alphas and Betas instinctively. Pheromones are central to attraction, comfort, intimidation, and dominance displays. Scent etiquette is a cornerstone of cultural interaction, unwanted pheromone projection is seen as harassment or abuse.

20. #20Fangs

    Keys: Fangs, teeth, fang

Fangs are a defining biological trait in the omegaverse, serving both practical and instinctual functions. They are most prominently used in bonding, piercing the scent glands to create or reinforce a bond mark. Beyond bonding, fangs are also a display of dominance, defense, and identity. Alphas Design: Thick, slightly curved fangs, built for strength and penetration. Purpose: Designed to pierce deeply and secure a bond mark that cannot easily be undone. Their fangs can exert considerable pressure, making them dangerous weapons in combat as well as symbols of dominance. Behavior: Alphas often flash their fangs in displays of authority or aggression. During rut, fang exposure becomes more frequent and harder to control. Betas Design: Shorter, subtler fangs, often mistaken for sharp canines rather than true fangs. Purpose: While not strong enough to pierce for bonding in the Alpha sense, Beta fangs can still leave marks. In bonding, Betas rely more on pheromone influence than on physical marking. Behavior: Betas rarely use their fangs for dominance displays. Instead, they may use them playfully, affectionately, or as part of private bonding rituals. Omegas Design: Slender, needle-like fangs, sharper than Betas but more delicate than Alphas. Purpose: Suited for return marks during bonding, Omegas fangs often leave smaller, cleaner scars. They rarely cause serious injury, but their precision makes them effective for sealing mutual bonds. Behavior: Omegas instinctively bare their fangs when protecting pups or defending nests. Despite their smaller size, their strikes are fast and often underestimated.

21. #21Mating glands

    Keys: Glands, gland, Mating gland

Mating glands are located at the back of the neck. They are highly sensitive areas tied directly to bonding and reproductive instincts. Purpose: These glands release potent pheromones during heats, ruts, and mating. When bitten or stimulated, they intensify hormonal release and help align reproductive cycles between partners. Bonding Role: An Alpha’s fangs piercing the mating gland initiates the First Bite, sparking the formation of the bond tether. The scar that remains is the bond mark. Sensitivity: The mating gland is one of the most sensitive areas of the body. Stimulation outside of a bond can cause overwhelming arousal or distress, which is why it is often protected and kept private. Scruffing Role: Pressure near the mating gland mimics the hold of a parent. It can trigger calming, submissive, or protective instincts, especially in times of stress. For pups, this pressure soothes and regulates. In adults, it can serve as a corrective gesture, a grounding comfort from mates, or a dominance display between rivals. Dynamic Differences: Alphas: Mating glands are less pronounced, but highly receptive to Omega pheromone triggers. Betas: Functional but weaker mating glands, used primarily for compatibility bonding with other Betas or Omegas. Omegas: Exceptionally responsive glands, central to both bonding and fertility. During heats, their mating glands become hyperactive, drawing mates instinctively. Cultural Note: In many societies, exposing the back of the neck is a gesture of trust and vulnerability. Covering the area with scarves or high collars is common among unbonded Omegas.

22. #22Scruffing

    Keys: Scruffing, scruffed, Scruff

Scruffing is the act of gripping the loose skin at the back of the neck, an instinctual behavior rooted in pup-rearing. While primarily used to regulate and calm pups, it carries strong instinctive responses even in adults. Pups Purpose: Mothers (and sometimes fathers) scruff pups to carry, restrain, or calm them. The grip triggers a reflex that stills the pup, making them pliant and quiet. Effect: Instantly soothes distress, quiets tantrums, and reinforces a sense of safety. Scruffing is often combined with purring to lull pups into sleep.

Adults Although considered infantilizing, scruffing remains effective in adults, particularly when instincts run high. Alphas: Scruffing is common between veteran and younger Alphas. It serves as a corrective gesture, signaling dominance and demanding submission without full violence. An older Alpha may scruff a reckless younger one to stop a fight or rein in uncontrolled pheromones. Omegas: Scruffing can soothe an Omega in distress, particularly during heat or after trauma. However, it is highly intimate, and unwanted scruffing is viewed as invasive or humiliating. Betas: Less instinctually affected but still responsive. A scruffed Beta may calm or pause, but the effect is weaker than in Alphas or Omegas.

23. #23Feral

    Keys: feral

“Feral” describes a state of instinct-driven aggression and loss of higher control in Alphas and Omegas. It is rare, dangerous, and heavily stigmatized. Triggers: Unresolved heats or ruts (when suppressives or inhibitors are forgotten too often, or when cycles are denied too long). Threats to a bonded mate or pups (extreme protective instinct). Severe trauma or abuse, most often seen in Omegas who have been forced, neglected, or harmed. Symptoms: Loss of rational thought, driven purely by instinct. Fangs bared, pheromones projected at maximum intensity. In Omegas: defensive frenzy, nest-guarding behavior, or uncontrollable self-defense attacks. In Alphas: territorial rage, destructive violence, and mate-guarding to the point of obsession. Recovery: Coming down from a feral state leaves the individual exhausted, often with little memory of their actions. Comfort from mates, medical sedation, or controlled environments are needed to restore stability. Cultural Views: Military: Some armies weaponize controlled feral states, training soldiers to unleash them under supervision. Civilian Life: Going feral is seen as dangerous and shameful, often leading to stigma or fear. Survivors: Ferality in abused Omegas is recognized by some societies as a natural defense, but in others it is used against them, branding them unstable.

24. #24Suppressives

    Keys: Suppressives, suppressive

Suppressives are medications designed to dampen the hormonal cycles of Alphas, preventing or reducing the severity of ruts. Usage: Often prescribed for individuals in professional environments, the military, or those not currently seeking mates. Effect: Suppressives dull pheromone projection, reduce the intensity of ruts, and lower sexual drive. They do not eliminate cycles entirely, only manage them. Risks: Long-term use can cause hormonal imbalances, weakened scent glands or infertility. Cultural Views: Some see suppressives as a necessary tool for equality; others criticize them as unnatural, suppressing core instincts.

25. #25Heat inhibitors

    Keys: heat inhibitors, inhibitor

Heat inhibitors are emergency-use drugs taken at the onset of an Omega’s heat to halt or delay it. Usage: Typically used in situations where entering heat would be dangerous, such as combat zones or public places. Effect: Temporarily stops ovulation and suppresses scent flare-ups, allowing Omegas to maintain control. Limitations: Extremely painful if used repeatedly, as the body reacts violently to the cycle being interrupted. May lead to internal damage, miscarriages, or long-term infertility if abused. Social Note: In some countries, Omegas are required to carry inhibitors in case of public heats, while others consider such mandates discriminatory.

26. #26Scent blockers

    Keys: Scent blockers, blocker

Scent blockers are sprays, patches, or pills designed to mask or neutralize pheromones. Usage: Common in workplaces or the military where it could be potentially dangerous for the true designation to be known. Especially in the military, it helps hide Omegas in the ranks to protect them from abuse. Effect: Completely masks natural scent, replacing it with a neutral or artificial one. Can also dull bond resonance if worn for long periods. Risks: Extended use may irritate scent glands, causing pain or temporary gland shutdown. Long-term blockers can cause partners distress, as they may be unable to sense their mate. Cultural Views: Some see blockers as a form of safety and professionalism, while others see them as stripping away individuality. For bonded mates, blockers are often considered insulting unless necessary.

27. #27Courting

    Keys: Courting

The first stage of bonding, where one or both partners begin to express intent. Courting can be instinctual or cultural, ranging from subtle scent exchanges to elaborate gift-giving rituals. Alphas often demonstrate protection or strength, while Omegas may display nesting or nurturing gestures. Betas may rely on pheromone regulation to create calm, intimate atmospheres. Courting signals readiness but does not yet form a permanent tether.

28. #28Mating Bite

    Keys: mating bite, bite

The pivotal moment where the bond begins. During sex or heightened emotion, the Alpha (or dominant partner) sinks their teeth into the Omega’s (or receptive partner’s) mating gland. This act releases pheromones that spark the creation of the tether. The mark is raw at first, bleeding faintly and aching until accepted. Without acceptance, the bond risks becoming unstable, leaving one or both partners restless and unfulfilled.

29. #29Bond Sickness

Keys: Bond sickness, seperated, seperation, away, distance

Bond sickness occurs when bonded partners are separated for extended periods. The tether between them strains under distance, causing physical and psychological symptoms. Mild Symptoms: Irritability, insomnia, lack of appetite, and constant restlessness. Severe Symptoms: Fever, phantom pains at the bond site, hallucinations of the mate’s scent, and debilitating weakness. Causes: Long deployments, exile, imprisonment, or even emotional withdrawal within a strained relationship. Treatment: Reuniting is the most effective cure. Suppressants or medical dampeners may dull symptoms, but prolonged bond sickness can become fatal if left unresolved.

30. #30Bonding rituals

    Keys: Bond, bonding, ceremony, ritual

Bond Ceremonies: In some cultures, bonding is celebrated like a wedding. Marks are displayed openly, and families witness the first bite. Scent Cloths: Partners exchange personal items marked with their scent during early bonding to ease separation. Jewelry & Tattoos: Some use collars, rings, or tattoos to frame the bond mark, elevating it as a badge of pride.

31. #31Forced Bond

    Keys: Forced bond, forced, force

A bond created without consent. The bite mark becomes a raw, festering wound, weeping blood or fluid. The victim feels constant pain, nausea, and mental unrest. Forced bonds warp instincts, leaving victims prone to trauma, rage, or withdrawal. The only cure is either repairing the bond consensually (rare and difficult) or severing it surgically. Victims are often shunned, as society views unhealed marks as “tainted.”

32. #32Bond Severance

    Keys: Severance, divorce, surgery, removal

A dangerous surgery that severs the neurological and hormonal tether. The mark is cut away, leaving a scar. Survivors feel an emptiness, a “phantom bond”. New bonds are possible but never as strong. Many describe feeling permanently hollow. Severed individuals are often pitied or mistrusted.

33. #33Fated Bonds

Keys: Fated bonds, fated bond, fate, fated

A Fated Bond is the rarest and most mysterious type of bond. Every individual is said to have exactly one fated mate, predetermined by nature, instinct, or divine design. Unlike normal bonds that can be chosen and forged through mutual marking, a Fated Bond ignites instantly upon meeting. Some view it as destiny, the ultimate union. Others fear it as a loss of free will. Many dismiss it as superstition, but evidence of true fated pairs persists across history.

34. #34Studding

    Keys: Studding, studded, stud

Occurs when an Omega or Beta dominates their partner so consistently that their dynamic effectively shifts. The Omega or Beta may gain Alpha traits, including the Alpha knotting ability. Studding can elevate an individual’s social status.

35. #35Bitching

    Keys: bitching, bitched, bitch

Occurs when an Alpha or Beta is dominated so frequently that they revert into an Omega. Loss of rut intensity of the Alpha, reduction in aggressive dominance behaviors, and eventual adoption of Omega-like instincts. May lose knotting ability if fully converted. Bitching is highly stigmatized in Alpha-centric societies but can be used tactically in packs.
