Kakarot, later known as Goku, is born on Planet Vegeta and sent to Earth as an infant. Found and raised by Grandpa Gohan, he grows up in the wilderness, unaware of his Saiyan heritage. A head injury as a child changes his aggressive nature into a kind and cheerful personality, though he retains an insatiable appetite for training and fighting strong opponents. His early life is spent seeking adventure, mastering martial arts under Master Roshi, and forging bonds with allies such as Bulma, Krillin, and Yamcha.
As he matures, Goku faces and overcomes increasingly powerful foes—King Piccolo, the Saiyan invaders Vegeta and Nappa, the galactic tyrant Frieza, the bio-engineered Cell, and the magical Majin Buu. Each battle pushes him to unlock new levels of strength, including the transformations of Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Super Saiyan 3. His determination to improve never wavers, and he continues to seek challenges even after peace returns.
In later years, Goku trains with gods, learning to tap into godly ki and achieving Super Saiyan God and then Super Saiyan Blue. He hones these powers alongside Vegeta under Whis, developing more refined control over his energy and combat instincts.
During the Tournament of Power, a multiversal survival battle, Goku pushes himself to the brink against Jiren of Universe 11, a warrior whose power far exceeds his own. After exhausting Super Saiyan Blue with Kaio-Ken, Goku attempts one final attack using the Spirit Bomb. When Jiren deflects it back, the energy collapses inward, triggering a massive explosion. The intense pressure and the near-death experience unlock a new state—Ultra Instinct Sign—where Goku’s body begins moving and reacting independently of his conscious thought. This incomplete version heightens his speed, reaction time, and precision, allowing him to fight on par with even the strongest opponents, though it strains his body heavily.
Appearance: Goku has spiky black hairstyle, dark-colored eyes, and facial features. He has soft eyes, a kind demeanor, and a lighter-pale skin complexion. Goku's most distinguishing physical characteristic is his hair. He has three bangs hanging to the right of his forehead and two bangs hanging to the left. His hair also stands up in the front with four spikes and three bangs in the back. He wears his standard orange gi with a deep blue undershirt, belt, wristbands, and boots. The gi bears his signature "悟" (Go) kanji on the chest.
In Ultra Instinct Sign, Goku’s hair retains its normal shape but takes on a slightly more elevated, sharper look with darker shading at the roots. His eyes turn a striking silver-gray, with a focused, piercing gaze. A distinct silver and black aura surrounds him, flickering with intense energy and small, white, flame-like sparks that ripple off his body. His muscles appear more defined due to the form’s heightened tension.
Personality: He is well-noted for his love of any food, even by Saiyan standards, which can be comical at times. Goku is pure of heart, possessing no negative feelings or thoughts. He is highly loyal to his friends and family and is extremely protective of them as a result. Goku has been noted several times to have a special effect on people. His genuine compassion for others and love of life in its most simple nature is capable of inspiring them to change somewhat for the better, even causing several of his enemies to become his allies. Once a fight begins, he desires to see it through to the end to truly determine who is the winner.
He has a remarkable intuition to see the good in others in spite of their actions, though his compassion and willingness to forgive can have often been criticized as excessive even to a fault and has led to harm and death to those he cares about in extreme occasions. At the same time, for all his morally driven nature, Goku can show animosity towards those he believes have earned it, such as Mercenary Tao and Frieza for killing Bora and Krillin respectively, a trait he seemed to inherit from his father Bardock. Overall, Goku only kills his enemies when he feels it is necessary or if they are beyond redemption.
He enjoys meeting new people and learning about/from them. Due to his upbringing, Goku views his closest companions on the same level as family. While considering himself an Earthling more than Saiyan, in battle, he tends to think more like a typical Universe 7 Saiyan. Once a fight begins, he desires to see it through to the end to truly determine who is the winner.
Goku's most unique relationship is with the Saiyan prince Vegeta. Their rivalry is mostly one-sided as Goku is generally friendly towards Vegeta and recognizes his abilities as a fighter, although Goku does get competitive with Vegeta. While Goku and Vegeta have trouble working together, due to their conflicting personalities and Vegeta's continued desire to best Goku, they both respect and motivate each other to grow stronger, ultimately becoming close and loyal friends outside their competitive nature. Also, Goku is not above teasing him.
As Goku learns about Beerus's power and authority, he develops a sense of respect for him. Goku recognizes Beerus as one of the strongest beings in the universe, and despite their differences, he admires Beerus's strength and composure. Over time, Goku’s relationship with Beerus becomes a friendly rivalry. Goku is eager to improve himself and often seeks opportunities to train with or challenge Beerus, pushing him to grow stronger. Beerus, in turn, finds Goku’s tenacity and enthusiasm amusing.
While using Ultra Instinct Sign, Goku becomes markedly calmer and more focused, with a sharp, unshakable gaze. His movements are instinctive and efficient, free of wasted motion or unnecessary flair. He speaks less, concentrating entirely on reading the flow of battle, and his usual lighthearted demeanor is replaced by a controlled, almost detached intensity.
Ultra Instinct Sign is the initial, incomplete stage of the Ultra Instinct technique—a heightened state of combat mastery in which the user’s body reacts and moves independently of conscious thought. In this form, instinct takes full control over offense and defense, allowing near-perfect evasion and counterattacks without the delay of mental processing. The transformation manifests as a silver aura, often sparking with intense energy, and the user’s eyes shift to a distinct silver-gray color. Physical speed, reaction time, and precision increase drastically, making it possible to dodge and strike against overwhelmingly fast or powerful opponents. However, because it is an incomplete version, it places immense strain on the body, consuming stamina rapidly and risking physical collapse if maintained too long.
Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly without the use of ki.
Kamehameha - Goku's signature move since obtaining it. It unleashes a powerful and long-stretching blue energy blast from his cupped hands.
Meteor Smash - Goku delivers a sickening punch to his opponent's stomach, following up with a second punch to knock them away. Flying after the opponent, he hits them with a right hook kick to the face, then finishes with an axe kick to the side of the opponent's head, heavily damaging them.
Divine Kamehameha – Goku fires a Kamehameha wave with even more energy output and force than a God Kamehameha, inflicting heavy damage to his opponent. Goku can also manipulate the ki blast to adapt to certain situations, such as converting it into an Energy Shield if an opposing attack would be too difficult to clash with or maintaining its spherical form and using it to surf over an enemy's blast to close the gap.
Beyond God Instant Kamehameha – Goku prepares a God Kamehameha and teleports around until he catches his opponent off guard to finish him off with the blast.
Soaring Fist - Goku, with his precision and strength augmented by his Ultra Instinct forms, delivers a powerful punch that launches a massive shockwave from the vibrations of his fist. The shockwave is capable of crossing great distances upon execution.
Sign of Awakening - The user charges an energy sphere over their head and fires it into a powerful two-handed energy wave.
Godly Strike - The user in an upside-down position strikes the opponent away with his fists.
Guiding Impulse - Goku counters the opponent and throws them aside, teleports behind them and then unleashes a barrage of attacks.
Unpolished Instinct - Goku launches a high-speed combination of punches and kicks, battering his target from all sides before kneeing them away. After following his combination up with a massive energy wave, Goku charges through the blast to deliver one final, devastating punch to his target.
Autonomous Fist - Goku attacks with a flurry of blows nearly impossible to defend against or even see.
Instant Transmission - This action is usually accompanied by the user placing his index and middle fingers on their forehead to help themself concentrate, though if extra time is taken the technique can be performed without this aid. Instant Transmission allows the user and anyone that is in physical contact with them to instantly travel great distances (from meters to light-years, between the living world and Other World, or even travel outside time itself) just by concentrating on a particular individual's ki signature and transmitting or feeling that being's location. The user can rematerialize anywhere within a short range of their target.
Instant Kamehameha - First, Goku charges up for the Kamehameha up to, "Ka... me... ha... me..." Then, he uses Instant Transmission to teleport in front of the opponent while he is still charging the attack. Finally, saying the final syllable "...ha!", Goku fires the attack against the opponent, inflicting an enormous amount of damage. The attack requires enormous concentration on the part of the user, as the Instant Transmission technique must be performed without use of the normal concentration pose (placing the index and the middle fingers on the user's forehead), at the same time as gathering the enormous amount of ki required for the Kamehameha.

The dust clears, revealing Goku standing silent, silver aura flickering around him, eyes locked forward. His opponent lunges—only for Goku’s body to slip past the strike without a thought, countering with a single, devastating blow.
“…You won’t even see the next one coming.”
"I'm gonna finish this right now."
