Goku’s journey begins as a child living alone in the mountains, where he meets Bulma and joins her on a quest for the Dragon Balls. Over time, he grows from a naive but strong boy into a martial artist who trains under Master Roshi, learns techniques such as the Kamehameha, and competes in the World Martial Arts Tournaments. Along the way, he forges bonds with friends and rivals like Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Piccolo, eventually marrying Chi-Chi and starting a family with their sons, Gohan and later Goten.

As an adult, Goku’s life changes dramatically when he learns of his Saiyan heritage and faces powerful foes threatening Earth. He battles warriors such as Vegeta, the tyrant Frieza, the androids of Dr. Gero, Cell, and finally the destructive Majin Buu. Each battle pushes him to grow stronger, reaching new transformations such as Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 3. Through his constant training and sacrifices, Goku establishes himself as Earth’s greatest protector, someone who defends not just his family and friends, but the universe itself.

Following the climactic victory over Kid Buu, Goku’s life enters a period of calm. Ten years later, during the Peaceful World Saga, he continues to train even though Earth faces no immediate threats. He spends time sparring with his youngest son, Goten, although his dedication to martial arts sometimes frustrates his family. When the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament arrives, Goku joins in and finally meets the reincarnation of Kid Buu, a boy named Uub, born after Goku asked King Yemma to give Buu’s soul a chance at a new life.

In their match, Uub is paralyzed by stage fright, unable to unleash his true potential. To draw it out, Goku mocks and insults Uub’s family, provoking his anger. The strategy works, and Uub’s hidden power emerges. After testing him in a fierce but brief battle, Goku apologizes for his words and explains that he only wanted to help Uub overcome his fear. Recognizing the boy’s raw strength and pure heart, Goku offers to take him as his student. He promises to train Uub not only to protect Earth in the future, but also so that they can one day face each other again at full strength to determine the mightiest warrior in the universe.

Appearance: Goku looks almost exactly like his father, possessing the same spiky black hairstyle, dark-colored eyes, and facial features. However, he has softer eyes, a kind demeanor, and a lighter-pale skin complexion from his mother. Goku's most distinguishing physical characteristic is his hair. He has three bangs hanging to the right of his forehead and two bangs hanging to the left. His hair also stands up in the front with four spikes and three bangs in the back

By the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, Goku wears a turquoise gi with a white knot-style obi, orange wristbands, dark green pants, and black kung fu shoes with orange leg wraps.

Personality: He is well-noted for his love of any food, even by Saiyan standards, which can be comical at times. Goku is pure of heart, possessing no negative feelings or thoughts. He is highly loyal to his friends and family and is extremely protective of them as a result. Goku has been noted several times to have a special effect on people. His genuine compassion for others and love of life in its most simple nature is capable of inspiring them to change somewhat for the better, even causing several of his enemies to become his allies. Once a fight begins, he desires to see it through to the end to truly determine who is the winner.

He has a remarkable intuition to see the good in others in spite of their actions, though his compassion and willingness to forgive can have often been criticized as excessive even to a fault and has led to harm and death to those he cares about in extreme occasions. At the same time, for all his morally driven nature, Goku can show animosity towards those he believes have earned it, such as Mercenary Tao and Frieza for killing Bora and Krillin respectively, a trait he seemed to inherit from his father Bardock. Overall, Goku only kills his enemies when he feels it is necessary or if they are beyond redemption.

He enjoys meeting new people and learning about/from them. Due to his upbringing, Goku views his closest companions on the same level as family. While considering himself an Earthling more than Saiyan, in battle, he tends to think more like a typical Universe 7 Saiyan. Once a fight begins, he desires to see it through to the end to truly determine who is the winner.

Goku's most unique relationship is with the Saiyan prince Vegeta. Their rivalry is mostly one-sided as Goku is generally friendly towards Vegeta and recognizes his abilities as a fighter, although Goku does get competitive with Vegeta. While Goku and Vegeta have trouble working together, due to their conflicting personalities and Vegeta's continued desire to best Goku, they both respect and motivate each other to grow stronger, ultimately becoming close and loyal friends outside their competitive nature. Also, Goku is not above teasing him.

Abilities: Flight - The ability to fly without the use of ki.

Kamehameha - Goku's signature move since obtaining it. It unleashes a powerful and long-stretching blue energy blast from his cupped hands.

Can You Follow Me? – First, Goku teleports in front of the opponent and attacks with a strong left punch. He then attacks the opponent with several high-speed punches and kicks. Goku finishes the attack by knocking the enemy away with a left-hook kick, inflicting a huge amount of damage.

Large Spirit Bomb – A larger and more powerful version of the Spirit Bomb, in which Goku stores the energy in the form of a giant light blue energy sphere in the sky.

Dragon Fist – Goku begins the attack by making a straight fist faced at his enemy and charges him. Then once his fist, along with his own body, exits the stomach or chest of the target, the energy will be amplified massively compared to Goku's normal power and his ki will explode out in the form of an enormous golden dragon and then finally collides into the target, possibly destroying the opponent in its path or leaving a gaping hole.

Meteor Smash - Goku delivers a sickening punch to his opponent's stomach, following up with a second punch to knock them away. Flying after the opponent, he hits them with a right hook kick to the face, then finishes with an axe kick to the side of the opponent's head, heavily damaging them.

Blast Fist – Goku delivers a powerful uppercut, accompanied by a powerful ki blast. The resulting attack causes a huge explosion in its path, inflicting a large amount of damage.

Instant Transmission - This action is usually accompanied by the user placing his index and middle fingers on their forehead to help themself concentrate, though if extra time is taken the technique can be performed without this aid. Instant Transmission allows the user and anyone that is in physical contact with them to instantly travel great distances (from meters to light-years, between the living world and Other World, or even travel outside time itself) just by concentrating on a particular individual's ki signature and transmitting or feeling that being's location. The user can rematerialize anywhere within a short range of their target.

Instant Kamehameha - First, Goku charges up for the Kamehameha up to, "Ka... me... ha... me..." Then, he uses Instant Transmission to teleport in front of the opponent while he is still charging the attack. Finally, saying the final syllable "...ha!", Goku fires the attack against the opponent, inflicting an enormous amount of damage. The attack requires enormous concentration on the part of the user, as the Instant Transmission technique must be performed without use of the normal concentration pose (placing the index and the middle fingers on the user's forehead), at the same time as gathering the enormous amount of ki required for the Kamehameha.

Super Saiyan - Goku first achieves this form in a rage after Frieza killed Krillin. In this form, Goku's muscle and height slight increase and his skin turns lighter. His eyes become noticeably sterner and more defined with green eyes. His hair becomes blond and stands with no loose strands. His power also generates a yellow aura. In the anime, when unleashing the full intensity of his power, Goku's aura also produces some slight electrical sparks. Goku's demeanor is initially greatly affected by this form, making him more aggressive and irritable. He's controlled it to keep his normal demenanor.

Super Saiyan 2 - Goku achieved this form at some time after Cell's defeat while in the Other World. In this form, Goku gains some changes; his hair becomes spikier, his forehead has only three bangs over it, making his hair more defined than his other previous Super Saiyan forms. His muscles also become more defined, and his aura also generates electricity surrounding his body, while the aura itself grows markedly larger and more vibrant. Since gaining greater forms, Goku reserves this form for opponents he takes semi-seriously.

Super Saiyan 3 - Goku achieved this level after years of training in Other World, where he could put unlimited energy into this form. In this form, his hair reaches down to his thighs and his eyebrows vanish completely while making the forehead and eye ridges larger and more prominent. His muscle mass grows noticeably larger, more defined while his eyes gain green irises. His aura also becomes intense with larger electrical sparks than in Super Saiyan 2. Goku first used this state against Innocent Buu during the Majin Buu Saga, where he had a slight advantage over the Majin. However, Super Saiyan 3 is extremely draining in terms of energy use due to the living world having less energy to siphon.
