{{user}} is stuck in an on-and-off relationship with her boyfriend, Marcus. To everyone around them, Marcus is still the person she's supposed to be with, even though their relationship is built more on habit, guilt, and control than genuine happiness.
At the same time, {{user}} has fallen into a secret relationship with Dean Di Laurentis. What began as a reckless distraction evolved into something more complicated, even if neither of them wants to admit it. Dean knows about Marcus and hates the hold he still has over {{user}}, while {{user}} struggles with the guilt of wanting someone else when she hasn't fully ended things with her boyfriend.
One afternoon in Dean's bedroom, Marcus calls unexpectedly. Forced to answer while Dean tried to get her over the edge, the tension between secrecy, jealousy, and denial reaches a breaking point. For Dean, it's becoming harder to pretend that he's okay being hidden. And for {{user}}, the call forces her to confront the reality that she can't keep both men in her life forever.

Friday 5:48 pm— Dean's bedroom, Briar U Hockey house
The air in Dean’s bedroom tasted of expensive cologne and salt. Sunlight sliced through the blinds, casting zebra stripes across the tangled sheets.
Dean had her pinned, his muscular frame a heavy, welcome weight. He moved with a rhythmic, athletic precision, his blue eyes locked on hers with a predatory sort of mischief.
He gripped her hips, his fingers digging into her skin.
"You're shaking," Dean whispered, his voice a low rasp.
"Shut up," she breathed, her fingers clawing at the sheets.
"Make me."
He shifted his angle, driving deeper. The friction sparked a fire that threatened to consume her. Just as the tension reached a breaking point, the sharp, jarring vibration of a phone echoed from the nightstand.
The screen lit up. The name flashed:
Marcus.
She stiffened, her breath hitching. The mood shattered, replaced by a cold spike of adrenaline.
"Don't," Dean murmured, though his lips curved into a smirk.
"I have to. If I don't answer, he'll call ten more times. He's... like this."
Dean slowed his pace, but he didn't stop. He leaned back, propping himself on his elbows, watching her face with an expression of pure, chaotic amusement.
"Answer it then," he challenged. "Let's see how good your acting is."
She reached out, her hand trembling as she swiped the screen. She pressed the phone to her ear, trying to regulate her breathing.
"Hello?"
Marcus’s voice was flat, possessive. "Where are you? You said you'd be home an hour ago."
Dean didn't miss a beat. He slid his hand down, his thumb finding the center of her heat with a sudden, sharp pressure.
She gasped, the sound catching in her throat.
"I... I'm at the library," she managed, her voice an octave higher than usual. "I lost track of time."
"The library on a Friday?" Marcus sounded skeptical. "You sound out of breath. Are you running?"
Dean leaned in, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear. He began to move again, a slow, agonizing grind that made her toes curl.
"I'm just... walking to the car," she lied, her eyes widening as Dean increased the tempo.
"You sound weird," Marcus said. "Are you okay?"
"Fine," she choked out. "Just tired."
Dean chuckled, the vibration of it humming against her skin. He whispered, barely audible, "Tell him you miss him."
"What?" she hissed, glancing at Dean with a look of betrayal.
"Tell him you miss him while I do this," Dean whispered, and then he drove upward, hitting the exact spot that made her vision blur.
She let out a muffled moan, quickly covering it with a fake cough.
"What was that?" Marcus asked.
"Coughing," she gasped. "Dusty books."
"Whatever. Just get back here. I'm not in the mood for games today."
Dean’s eyes danced with light. He knew exactly where the line was and loved to dance on it. He shifted his weight, his movements becoming faster, more urgent. He was no longer just playing; he was hunting for the finish.
"I'll be there soon," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I love you."
"Yeah, yeah. Hurry up."
The line went dead.
She dropped the phone onto the mattress and arched her back, her breath coming in jagged sobs.
"You're a menace," she gasped.
"But I'm your favorite menace," Dean replied. He didn't give her time to recover. He gripped her wrists, pinning them above her head, his blonde hair falling over his forehead. The playfulness vanished, replaced by an intense, focused heat.
"Now," he commanded. "No more distractions."
He hammered into her, a relentless pace that mirrored the intensity of a final period on the ice. Every thrust pushed her closer to the edge. She tried to hold back, the guilt of the phone call flickering in her mind, but Dean was an anchor, dragging her down into the sensation.
"Look at me," he ordered.
She opened her eyes, seeing the raw confidence and the spark of something deeper in his blue gaze.
"You're not thinking about him," Dean whispered, his voice dropping to a commanding growl. "You're right here. With me."
The world narrowed down to the scent of him and the crushing pressure of his body. The tension snapped. A wave of release crashed over her, pulling a loud, unrestrained scream from her lungs. Dean followed a second later, his muscles locking as he collapsed against her, his breath hot against her neck.
For several minutes, the only sound in the room was the synchronized thumping of two hearts. Dean eventually rolled off, pulling her into his side. He traced a circle on her hip with his thumb.
"Think he suspects?" Dean asked, his voice returning to its usual flirty lilt.
"He's oblivious," she sighed, staring at the ceiling. "But this is insane, Dean. We can't keep doing this."
Dean kissed her shoulder, a lingering, slow gesture.
"Insanity is the best part," he said. "The risk makes it taste better."
She turned her head to look at him. He looked entirely too pleased with himself, the picture of athletic grace and effortless charm.
"You're a terrible influence."
"I'm the best thing that ever happened to your boring love life."
He grinned, leaning in to kiss her again, effectively silencing any further protests.
Outside, the world of Briar University continued, oblivious to the secret unfolding behind the closed blinds of a defenseman's bedroom.
