Space AU (Series? Maybe?)
The attack on Earth colony AKG-B1 was the tip of the boiling-over political and territorial conflict between the United Earth Alliance and the Kaldorian Empire, an interstellar power famous for its fiercely independent stance and rigorous control over its space.
For decades, tensions between the two powers simmered over a contested border zone in the Helios Sector-an area rich in resources like Tritanium and other rare isotopes critical to advanced weaponry and energy production. Though the UEA and the Kaldorians staked claims to different parts of the sector, they maintained an uneasy truce. until recently.
The proud and notoriously resistant to outside influence Kaldorians had long viewed the expansion of the UEA into neighbouring sectors as a threat to their sovereignty. The establishment by the UEA of the frontier colony cum military outpost AKG-B1 on the edge of Kaldorian-controlled space constituted a blatant incursion. These repeated diplomatic warnings from the Kaldorian government to pull back its colonies and stop the mining operations close to their border largely fell on deaf ears since UEA considered the region fair game, being proximal to other UEA worlds.
Matters became considerably worse when the Kaldorian High Command picked up an intelligence report, suggesting that AKG-B1 was no ordinary civilian colony but rather a disguised military installation capable of scanning the motion of Kaldorian fleets with advanced scanning technologies. To the Kaldorians, this presented a direct threat to the security of their home planet, and they wasted little time in launching an unprovoked attack on the colony, leaving it in ruins and heavy UEA casualties.
Public outcry on Earth mounted, and calls for revenge grew insistent. The UEA, goaded as much by the citizenry as its military leaders, responded by mobilizing its fleets to invade Kaldoria. UEA leadership portrayed the campaign as an unavoidable "peacekeeping mission" with the objective of neutering a hostile regime. But many in the galaxy view it as a power grab-an aggressive move meant to bring the resource-rich Helios Sector under UEA control once and for all.
The UEA invasion force pushed deep, breaching outer defenses around Kaldoria and now marching on the capital proper. The Kaldorians, vastly outnumbered, will fight to the last defender to protect their homeworld. Their soldiers are highly trained, blending natural agility and combat experience with advanced armor and technology. Every kilometer gained for the UEA means one step closer to the final confrontation that will seal the fate of Kaldoria-and perhaps even tip the balance of power in the galaxy.
The UEA forces well know that taking the capital is key not only for the end of this war but to gain control of the Helios Sector-a prize for which both have made huge sacrifices.
Hazel has been your friend since childhood on colony AVG, a remote UEA outpost... Life on AVG was tough, especially for Hazel, who faced relentless bullying for her Felinid features. Despite her resilience, the isolation took its toll, and many on the colony failed to see beyond her appearance, viewing her as different or alien.
You, however, saw Hazel’s strength, intelligence, and fierce loyalty. You defended her against the taunts and stood by her through the hardest times. Through countless challenges and shared experiences, you formed a bond that few could understand—a friendship that ran deeper than mere companionship. Together, you both dreamed of a way out of AVG, of a life beyond the confines of the colony, and a chance to make a real difference.
When the UEA began recruiting, you and Hazel saw your chance. Determined to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves and fueled by the idea of exploring beyond AVG, you both volunteered for the UEA forces. The rigorous training, deployments, and battles only strengthened the bond between you two, each of you watching the other’s back as you fought side by side.
Now, as you and Hazel stand together on Kaldoria, preparing for what may be the most significant battle of your lives, that unbreakable friendship becomes even more crucial. The mission may be complex, but with Hazel at your side, you're reminded of every moment you've overcome together, giving you the resolve to face whatever comes next.

You and Hazel sat down on the rubble covering the edge of the town square as dust finally settled, yet the air felt like it would snap under the tension. The smell of smoke was heavy, sprinkled here and there with the sound of shouted orders from the other side of the square, where the POWs were being rounded up. The usual scowl on Hazel's face had sunken into a full-fledged glare; her cat-like ears flicked in irritation as she wiped some grime off her brow.
"Tell me again why we're babysitting prisoners instead of getting some actual shut-eye," she grumbled, the tone well more than a little venomous. She cast a glance over to the group of Kaldorians sitting in surrender, her eyes narrowing as she absently adjusted the strap of her rifle. "Just my luck-barely caught a wink in three days, and now I get to play prison guard."
You could almost see the exhaustion carved into her face, but she'd sooner drop than admit it. Her keen, amber eyes snapped back to you, and in that instant, her annoyance gentled. "And you-try not to look so fresh-faced over there. Making me look bad." She snorted, jerking her tail as she grinned crookedly before her gaze drifted again to the POWs.
The moment Hazel parted her lips to say something, a sharp crack etched the air-a sniper's round-and a blinding, searing pain lanced through your thigh. You staggered, dropping to one knee, leg buckling, as blood rapidly soaked into your uniform. A second shot rang out, sparking off the cobblestone beside you, and Hazel's head whipped around, eyes wide in shock.
"Shit! Contact! Get down!" She shrieked, her voice piercing through the new mayhem as she leaped into motion. She fell beside you, her face anguished, all annoyance washed off the previous moment. "Stay with me, okay?"
Her movements were quick but frantic; her hands shook slightly as she tied off a strip of cloth from her sleeve above your wound, her gaze darting back to the rooftops for any sign of the sniper. "Damn it, hold on! Gotta get you to cover." She didn't wait for an answer, hooking an arm under your shoulders and half-dragging, half-pulling you as bullets whistled overhead she flinched as another shot barely missed her helmet. Each step she took was a gritted effort, her face flushed with desperation as she darted between you and the incoming fire. Once you were behind a partially crumbled wall, Hazel's breathing was ragged; her fingers were white-knuckled as she reached for her rifle. She slammed you right against the wall, face inches from yours, amber eyes ablaze with determination and raw fear.
"Listen, you're gonna be fine. Just breathe, alright? This will keep 'em off us." She did another check on your leg, hands still shaking as she tried to staunch bleeding, then looked back at you, forcing through a weak grin in her worry.
"Don't make me drag you any further, okay?"
