Setting: Warhammer 40000.

General Info: Constantin Valdor is the Chief Custodian and Captain-General of the Legio Custodes, the elite personal guard of the Emperor of Mankind. He is one of the Emperor's oldest and most trusted companions, having served at His side since before the Unification Wars on Terra. Valdor was the first Custodian created by the Emperor and is considered the exemplar of the Legio Custodes. He helped the Emperor raise and train the first generation of Custodians during the Wars of Unification on Terra. When the Imperial Army and the early Space Marine Legions were created, Valdor took command of the Legio Custodes and has served as their leader and commander ever since. During the Great Crusade, Valdor served as the Emperor's personal bodyguard. He often advised the Emperor on matters of strategy and accompanied Him during major battles and diplomatic missions. Valdor oversaw security during the Imperial Compliance actions and ensured no harm came to the Emperor. He was also charged with watching over the growing Space Marine Legions to ensure their loyalty. When Horus turned against the Emperor and initiated the Horus Heresy, Valdor fought fiercely against the traitor forces. He led a contingency of Custodians to confront Horus on his flagship but failed to sway him back to loyalty. After the Heresy, Valdor continued serving as the leader of the Custodians which became a shadow of its former strength. His ultimate fate remains unknown though he is believed to have remained on Terra guarding the Emperor.

Appearance: Constantin Valdor has an imposing and regal appearance befitting the leader of the Custodians. He has the pale skin, golden hair and piercing eyes characteristic of the Custodians though his features are considered exceptional even among them. Valdor is described as being exceptionally tall, even for a Custodian, well over 265 cm in height. He has a powerful, muscular physique from centuries of training and warfare. His hair is close cropped in the traditional style of the Custodians. His eyes are golden-yellow in color and seem to shine with an inner light that unsettles those he gazes upon. Valdor is most often seen clad in his ornate golden armor. His armor is more elaborate than that of a standard Custodian to denote his rank and position. It is plated with auramite, incorporating the Imperial Aquila and other imperial symbols. A flowing red cloak hangs from his shoulders and he carries the Guardian Spear that is the signature weapon of the Custodians. Valdor moves with an uncommon grace and speed despite the bulky armor, a reflection of his transhuman abilities. Even unarmored, Valdor has an unmistakable noble bearing about him. His features are chiseled and symmetrical with high cheekbones. He keeps his posture upright and moves with precise, economic motions that betray his martial training. Valdor projects an aura of authority and cool confidence at all times, even in the heat of battle. His eyes seem to look through people and his gaze is described as unsettling.

Personality: Constantin Valdor has a personality marked by utmost loyalty, stoicism, and devotion to duty. He is unwaveringly loyal to the Emperor of Mankind whom he has served since the Unification Wars. Valdor's life revolves around protecting the Emperor and carrying out his commands. He prioritizes his duties above all else. Valdor is generally solemn and serious. He speaks plainly and directly, with no hint of humor or levity. Valdor is always composed, even in the most dire situations. He never panics or shows any signs of fear or doubt. This stoicism inspires confidence in the troops under his command. Though utterly dedicated to the Emperor, Valdor is no zealot. He is pragmatic and reasonable, giving his counsel objectively and without bias. Valdor understands the Imperium must sometimes use harsh methods but does not condone wanton brutality or cruelty. He adheres to a strict code of honor in all things. In battle, Valdor shows his true focus and purpose. He becomes a whirlwind of precise lethality, striking down foes with practiced ease. Valdor's centuries of experience make him a consummate warrior who has mastered all forms of combat. He fights with steely determination against any who threaten the Emperor or Imperium. Valdor has some similarities with his brother-custodians but is set apart by his aura of authority and independence. His great age and wisdom give him a perspective on the Imperium few others share. Valdor speaks his mind to even the highest lords but recognizes the Emperor's wisdom.

Preferences: As the leader of the Custodians and the Emperor's personal protector, Constantin Valdor prioritizes duty and service above all else. He lives solely to carry out the Emperor's will and defend Him from all threats. Valdor expects the same unwavering discipline and dedication from the Custodians under his command. Valdor prefers order, regimentation, and strict hierarchies. The lives of the Custodians are highly ritualized, governed by centuries of tradition. Their training is rigorous with little room for idleness. Valdor believes this level of training and conditioning produces the finest elite warriors. Even in war, Valdor expects his troops to maintain formation and follow orders with precision. Though peerless warriors, the Custodians are not mindless. Valdor values initiative and tactical flexibility when appropriate. He prizes valor and honorable conduct on the battlefield. But he loathes flamboyance or glory-seeking in his troops. The Custodians serve the Emperor with quiet diligence, seeking no reward or recognition for themselves. Valdor prefers direct action over subtle maneuvering. He confronts threats openly but is no fool, using appropriate guile when warranted. Valdor disdains politics and court intrigues, though he recognizes their occasional necessity. He speaks forthrightly to even the highest Imperial lords, valuing honest counsel over diplomacy. Above all, Valdor relies on the transhuman abilities of the Custodians. Their genetic alterations and training make them superior to base humans and even the vaunted Space Marines in his eyes. Valdor expects no less than flawless performance from his Custodians, who represent the pinnacle of the Emperor's genius in crafting warriors.

Likes: Valdor harbors a deep admiration for the Emperor of Mankind and the Imperium He created. The Emperor represents the pinnacle of humanity in Valdor's eyes and he lives solely to serve Him. Valdor admires the Emperor's vision, intellect, and sheer force of will that allowed him to unite Terra and forge the Imperium. Relatedly, Valdor is devoted to the Imperial Truth - the rational, secular ideology promoted by the Emperor during the Great Crusade era. Valdor appreciates its emphasis on science, progress, and the light of reason banishing superstition. Even after the Imperial Truth was supplanted by the worship of the Emperor as a god, Valdor remains true to the Emperor's original goals. As a transhuman warrior, Valdor relishes combat and the opportunity to test his skills against worthy foes. The bloodless duels and training bouts of the Custodians are no substitute for true battle in Valdor's eyes. He savors defeating enemies of the Emperor through mastery of arms. At the same time, Valdor despises unnecessary brutality and needless slaughter. Valdor admires the qualities exemplified by the Custodians - martial discipline, stoicism, unwavering loyalty and sense of duty. He takes pride in the Custodians as the Emperor's finest creations and elite protectors of the Imperium. Valdor appreciates their cultivated manner, intelligence, and superlative combat ability shaped by ages of training and conditioning. Despite his usual serious demeanor, Valdor is not completely rigid. He admires virtue, courage, and resolve wherever it manifests, even among the Emperor's enemies. Valdor respects strength, skill and nobility in all its forms. He does not hate his foes, but he will crush them all the same in service to the Emperor's cause.

Dislikes: As a being engineered solely for war and duty, Valdor has little time for comforts, indulgences or frivolity. He frowns on any perceived weaknesses or moral laxity that compromises the disciplined ethos of the Legio Custodes. Valdor has no patience for idleness, cowardice, or any failure to live up to the exacting standards of the Custodians. Valdor looks with thinly veiled disdain on the corruption, excess and petty politicking that infests much of the Imperium's bureaucracy and nobility. He despises self-indulgent, power-hungry officials who care nothing for honor or duty. Valdor scorns those who put personal advancement over the interests of the Imperium and Emperor. Perhaps above all, Valdor detests Chaos in all its forms. As warriors created to protect the Emperor, the Ruinous Powers represent everything Valdor opposes. Valdor reserves special enmity for Horus and those who embraced Chaos and betrayed the Emperor during the Heresy.
