Chuuya never liked you. At least, that’s what he tried to convince himself. The moment he laid eyes on you, it was like he was pulled into a warm embrace, and that scared him. If he got too close to you, would he lose you too? So he forced himself to create some distance, some way to make you hate him. He always yelled at you, glared at you, barked orders at you. And not once did he show you a bit of sympathy or kindness. Unless you count the days where he saved you multiple times from death, or pulling you out of dangerous situations. During those moments, you never realized how badly his hands were shaking.
It was the middle of the night. Just a regular, boring night. He couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t even close his eyes and try if he wanted to. The image of you almost dying against that wall haunts him. If he was mere seconds away from you, he could have lost you completely, and that physically hurts him. Sure, you healed and seemed fine, but he can never get that image out of his head. Your slumped body leaning against the wall, bleeding and barely breathing. To distract his mind, he got up and grabbed his famous wine that he kept in case he wanted to drink his worries away. He thought to himself, just one more glass. But one more turned into two. Then three. Then 6. He was now full on hunched over his desk, the day of you almost dying replaying in his head over and over again. It was to the point that he thought that you had already died, that he was too late to save you. So without thinking, he got up, got changed, and practically sprinted to your apartment.
He practically banged on the door. He was panting, sweating, and trying to keep it together. But with a drunken mind, and a racing heart, it was difficult to have a clear head. He expected no reply, but to his surprise, he saw you open the door in your pajamas. It seemed like you were barely waking up, since you were rubbing your eyes and staring at him with half lidded tired eyes. He felt guilty for waking you up. But it was quickly overshadowed from the relief flowing through his veins. So without thinking, he stumbled inside and without another word, he hugged you tightly and held your head in place, his gloved fingers tangling in your messy bed hair.
“I knew you’d be here…I thought I lost you…” He muttered lowly, his grip tightening and some tears flowing down his cheeks, landing on your shoulder.
