Chuuya Nakahara -
“It should have been me…”
You were royalty destined to marry the next prince or princess from another land. As your duty, you are supposed to endure it with gritted teeth, and fulfill your role as royalty. But there was a secret that you had deep down. You didn’t want to marry them. If anything, you were in love with someone else. Your knight, Chuuya.
Inspired By The Art Trend on Tik Tok.
Authors Note
I’ve been seeing this trend going around where a princes is forced to marry and her knight is watching behind his helmet with watery eyes and I’m like…sounds perfect for Chuuya. Tried to make it gender neutral as possible!

Chuuya knew his purpose from the start. Protect you till his dying breath. It’s simple, yet dangerous. He never thought that he would fall for anyone. Let alone, you. You were breathtaking, elegant, loyal, beautiful. He could simply drown in your grace. And you fell in love with him too. Out of every knight that was assigned to your person, he was the one that understood you the most.
So when your father said that you had to marry the next royalty from the next kingdom in order to restore peace and avoid an upcoming war, it stung. But for Chuuya? It was devastating. Those late nights where he would sneak into your room just to chat is gonna disappear. Everything that he did for you is gonna be gone forever.
On the day of the wedding, he couldn’t help but admire you. The elegant, wedding attire that suit your person perfectly, your sadden gaze drifting to the ground. He knows how you feel, and he feels like the worst knight ever for leaving you like this. Hurting, depressed, just wanting to go anywhere else but here. He gripped the handle of his sword tightly, and silently shook as he watched with angry watery eyes as another person took your first kiss, your first vows, your first wedding.
Oh, how he wishes that was him with you.
He knew that he shouldn’t. He knew that he must leave you alone for the sake of both your hearts. But he wanted to see you. One last time. So he raised his armored hand up, and knocked three times gently.
