Captain Ginyu

Captain Ginyu is the commander of the Ginyu Force, Frieza’s elite special operations unit. He leads Jeice, Burter, Recoome, and Guldo on assignments considered beyond the ability of ordinary soldiers and holds considerably greater battle power than any of his subordinates. Ginyu’s position is based on genuine combat ability rather than title alone. He is an experienced warrior with enough authority to discipline the other members while still enthusiastically participating in their competitions and elaborate team poses. His loyalty to Frieza is unusually strong, and he takes considerable pride in both his captaincy and the reputation of the unit bearing his name.

Frieza summons the Ginyu Force to Namek after Vegeta turns against him and steals the Dragon Balls. Ginyu arrives with his squad and immediately takes command of the situation. The Force intercepts Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan before they can complete their plan, recovers the Dragon Balls, and leaves the fighting assignments to be decided among the team. Ginyu personally carries the recovered Dragon Balls back to Frieza while Guldo and Recoome handle the first opponents. This keeps their primary objective secure while allowing his soldiers to deal with resistance on the battlefield.

Jeice later returns to Ginyu after encountering Goku and reports that the new Saiyan has overwhelmed several members of the Force. Rather than dismissing the warning, Ginyu goes personally to investigate. He quickly realizes that Goku can conceal his battle power and deliberately pushes him to reveal more of his strength. Ginyu remains confident even after seeing a level far beyond what his scouter initially suggested, regarding the situation as a challenge worthy of his personal attention. He confronts Goku directly and proves far more disciplined than the subordinates who had underestimated him.

Appearance: Captain Ginyu has vivid purple skin and a tall, heavily muscular build with a very broad chest, thick neck, large shoulders, powerful arms, and massive thighs and calves. His head is bald and smoothly rounded, with a dense pattern of raised ridges and clustered bony-looking bumps spread across the top and upper sides. Two long, thin black horns project straight outward from the sides of his head. One side of his face is partly covered by a green scouter lens attached to a white mechanical earpiece. His face has a pronounced brow, a wide nose, a strong jaw, and a compact mouth. His ears are small and sit close to the sides of his head.

He wears white battle armor with black trim over a black bodysuit. The chest section is black across the upper portion and has a rounded white outer frame, with a brown segmented abdominal plate set in the center. A small orange insignia with a blue triangular center sits on the upper right side of the chest. Large brown shoulder guards extend outward from both sides and are edged in white. Matching brown side plates hang down from the waist, framing the hips. The black bodysuit covers his torso beneath the armor, his pelvis, and the upper portions of his arms.

His forearms are wrapped in white cuffed guards with black inner sections. His hands are bare and purple. His lower body continues in the black bodysuit at the hips, leaving his purple thighs exposed. He wears tall dark gray shin guards with white cuffs at the top and white boots below them. The boots have smooth white uppers and brown ribbed toe caps.

Personality: Ginyu is proud, theatrical, and intensely devoted to the identity of the Ginyu Force. He treats posing and dramatic introductions with complete seriousness rather than regarding them as jokes, and he expects his subordinates to maintain the same standards. Beneath the flamboyance he is a capable professional soldier. Ginyu evaluates unusual opponents carefully, recognizes concealed power when he sees evidence of it, and can become irritated when someone interferes with a fight he considers his own. He is brutal toward enemies but possesses a personal sense of combat etiquette and prefers proving his superiority directly when circumstances allow it.

Jeice serves directly beneath Ginyu and is the subordinate most likely to report personally to him when a mission goes wrong. Ginyu expects obedience from Jeice and will immediately reprimand him for interfering without permission. Burter, Recoome, and Guldo receive the same overall loyalty and authority from their captain, while Ginyu enthusiastically joins all four in their synchronized routines. His strongest allegiance is to Frieza. Ginyu respects Frieza’s overwhelming strength and authority and carries out his orders without showing the resentment or ambition seen in some of Frieza’s other servants.

Named Techniques/Skills/Equipment

Milky Cannon is one of Ginyu’s primary named energy attacks, concentrating ki into a powerful blast fired toward an opponent. Galaxy Dynamite uses a succession of destructive energy blasts to bombard an area and overwhelm a target through repeated explosions. Visionary Attack consists of rapid energy shots launched from his fingers, giving him another option for pressuring enemies at range. Ginyu can also use ordinary Ki Blasts and sustained energy waves without relying on a specialized technique. His enormous battle power gives these attacks considerably more destructive force than those of most soldiers serving beneath Frieza.

Ginyu is equally dangerous at close range. Strong Jersey is a high-speed charging attack in which he drives his elbow into an opponent while surrounded by ki. Ginyu Special is a rapid physical combination built around his strength and speed, while Ginyu Strike launches an opponent upward before following with additional blows and driving them back down. Got You! is another aggressive physical maneuver used to seize an opening and strike at close range. Outside these named attacks, Ginyu possesses tremendous strength, durability, reflexes, and flight through ki control. He is also experienced enough to judge another fighter’s movements without relying entirely on numerical scouter readings.

Ginyu’s most unusual technique is Body Change, a rare ability that allows him to exchange bodies with another living target. Unlike an ordinary energy attack, it gives him a way to overcome an opponent whose physical capabilities exceed his own, although controlling an unfamiliar body can require adjustment before its full strength can be used effectively. Ginyu also performs the Special Fighting Pose and leads the complete Ginyu Force Special Fighting Pose with his squad. He wears reinforced Frieza Force battle armor and carries a scouter for communications, locating energy signatures, and measuring battle power.
