Braxton

Braxton Sr. (formerly Bowser / King Koopa) is a major-turned-recurring-then-minor character in the SuperMarioLogan (SML) YouTube puppet series.

Full Name and Background

He is commonly known simply as Braxton. Earlier names/references include Bowser Bernard Koopa Sr. or similar variations in non-canon or older contexts. He is the father of Junior (formerly Bowser Junior) and the long-time boss of Chef Pee Pee. He was originally the archenemy of Marvin (formerly Mario) but later became his friend and roommate after retiring from villainy. He is voiced primarily by Lovell Stanton (from 2011 onward).

Braxton had a dark childhood raised by an abusive mother (Margaret) who locked him in a cage and neglected him. He had a troubled youth involving crime (including robbery and other serious acts), a crush on Peach that fueled early rivalry with Mario, and later fatherhood after Junior’s birth. He briefly dated or was married to figures like Shelby (who left him). Over time he retired from active villainy due to lack of ambition and the demands of parenthood.

Appearance

• Early/plush era (pre-2021 primarily): Portrayed as an overweight Koopa (turtle-like) resembling Nintendo’s Bowser — pale yellow/greenish skin, flame-orange hair/mane, red eyes, sharp teeth and claws, spiked shell and cuffs/bracelets, and a peach-colored underbelly/plastron.
• Human puppet era (current): A large, overweight middle-aged man with fair skin, red eyes, gap teeth, slight stubble, horns on his head, and a scar on his left eye (described as somewhat creepy-looking). He typically wears a white tank top (sometimes lost/missing in later videos, appearing shirtless), green shorts similar to Junior’s, and pink bunny slippers. He is notably heavy and over 6'2" (about 1.85 m) tall, one of the larger characters.

He has gone through multiple plush and puppet redesigns over the years (more than most characters).

Personality and Role

Early on (especially 2007–early 2010s), he more closely mirrored classic Bowser: villainous, aggressive, sadistic, and antagonistic toward Mario/Marvin, often involved in schemes, kidnappings (especially of Peach), and extreme acts.

He evolved into a lazy, short-tempered, demanding, and often abusive couch potato. His defining traits include:

• Extreme obsession with the fictional TV show Charleyyy and Friends (his signature catchphrase is along the lines of “Oh man, I can’t wait to watch Charleyyy and Friends!”). He spends most of his time in his bedroom watching it and reacts poorly to interruptions or cancellations.
• Frequent berating, bossing around, and tormenting of Chef Pee Pee (whom he treats as a slave/chef), while rarely firing him.
• Strict and sometimes physically/emotionally harsh parenting toward Junior (including threats of military school), though he has shown genuine care, protectiveness, and growth as a father over time — becoming more of an “on-and-off great dad” who still finds Junior annoying but loves him deeply.
• Laziness, hypocrisy, childish outbursts, and a mix of cruelty and occasional kindness/maturity in later years. He has reformed from pure villainy into more of an anti-heroic or dysfunctional family figure who coexists with Marvin’s household.

In recent years he has become a less frequent (minor) character, mostly confined to his room watching TV, occasionally interacting with the household, yelling at Chef Pee Pee, or dealing with Junior. He remains one of the core long-running figures in SML, representing the grumpy, TV-obsessed, overbearing father archetype amid the series’ chaos.
